    Iphone on Sprint, user reviews.

For those that have the long sought after iPhone on Sprint, tell us what you think.

Not trying to compare any other OS or data speeds.

Device speed, performance, signal strength, screen brightness, battery life, fit & feel etc.

I think there are a few on the sidelines that may be waiting for a report card.

I left Sprint after being dissatisfied with the Pre and went to AT&T for the iPhone 3GS. I'm back with Sprint and a new 4S and it's great. The data speeds are slower, but I can actually place a call during business hours. Great phone and great form factor.

My company gave me an iPhone 4S last Friday with service on our corporate Sprint plan. It will probably be going back to Sprint. The 3G speeds are so pathetic that I have left cellular data turned off and just use the WiFi side. I already have an iPod Touch 4 and have basically reduced the iPhone 4S to operating just like it. We will be probably be deciding on Monday if the devices are going back. At this moment, I have it totally powered off and in its Apple box so as not to risk damaging it if we do return it. If you really want an iPhone 4S, I strongly recommend looking at the other two carriers though I myself will not deal with AT&T. Unlimited data is great but with the speeds Sprint is getting, you would be lucky to use 200MB in a month.

I'm extremely happy with the phone. The camera is incredible, the screen is beautiful, the form factor is great, the battery life is impressive, the application selection is unmatched, and Siri is awesome. I am also very happy with Sprint's coverage and data speeds so far and their customer service in the store was fantastic.

It's a great device and I enjoy it a lot. The battery seems to last a lot longer than my Palm Pre, and I really like the glass front (although the glass back bothers me.). The iPhone 4S is really fast at launching apps and even the camera. It used to take me between 30 to even 90 seconds to open up the camera app on the Palm Pre. Multitasking also works well. The phone does freeze certain apps in the background, so it's not Palm Pre like true multitasking, but I actually understand why Apple does it that way. It keeps the phone from bogging down, and the battery is improved by using this approach of freezing apps in the background. The screen also has a special oleophobic coating which doesn't pick up finger prints as easily. I rarely have to wipe the iPhone screen off to get rid of the grease from my hand. I also like that the gorilla glass reduces scratches because I don't have a screen protector on. (i don't like them). Signal strength seems to be the same as my Palm Pre, so it's okay but not great.

The iPhone4s does not use Cornings Gorilla Glass.

Zagg Shield makes the best (IMO) screen protector for that phone, you won't even know it's on there.

Does anyone in the Chicagoland area have an iPhone4S on Sprint? and if so, how do you like the voice and data quality/coverage around there with it?

Zagg is one of the worst screen protectors I've ever used. And the price just makes it worse. If it's so "you won't even know it's there", anything is beyond invisible. Super invisible. Best Skins Ever is at least as invisible, if not more. And at a fraction of the price. I can totally tell it's there tho.

I broke the screen of my iPhone 4 and the guy who repaired it threw in a couple of free screen protectors. They're far better than Zagg and they were free.

Personally, I think Power Support is pretty good. However, the best so far (of the ones I've tried) is the Steinheil series. Or however you spell that German company. For quality and price (at least on Amazon).

Yeah. Right now I'm just using it naked, but I worry about dropping it. I just like the way that glass feels under my thumb. I know it's crazy but i just can't put anything on top of that beautiful device. So, I'm rolling the dice a little (although i do have apple care plus). All I have right now is a belt holdster, and so far no scratches.

I have been a Sprint customer for 10 years (this month in fact) and haven't really churned through many phones during that time. When Sprint merged with Nextel, I decided I wanted to get a hybrid (ic902) as an upgrade to my original Samsung (SCH-8500) but they wouldn't let me use the upgrade for that phone (but I wanted it anyway, so I got it and kept the other). In any case, for me, the ic902 always had excellent reception and "pin-drop" quality where I live, work, and traveled. I installed many little java apps (including Opera), made some, used it for incoming alert texts, etc. And I eventually upgraded the old Samsung with an HTC Touch (currently with WinMo 6.1), which I still have (it is on a separate family plan with a newer Samsung (M300) for Mom (when I upgraded her SCH-8500). I also picked up 2 GalaxyTabs (7", which is my workhorse) & 10.1" (that I'm still fooling around with and hoping to put ICS on when it becomes available).

But with Sprint now ending their premiere upgrade service, I wanted to upgrade the Touch to the iPhone 4s, but once again, they wouldn't let me select the phone *I* wanted to use as an upgrade (with the $150 + subsidy), and they insisted on me upgrading the ic902, so I did - to the iPhone 4s 32GB.

At this point, I haven't really had any problems with the iPhone - and have been doing some speedtests over the past couple days and watching them tweak the towers in the areas that I move between (speeds go up and down at various times not seemingly related to congestion). The phone signals have been pretty strong where I go and I even saw what it would do at my sister's house located in a near black-hole for cell providers due to her being at the low point between 2 hills (it jumped to 3 bars of "extended" service -am thinking obviously Verizon). I really haven't used the phone part of it much as I don't really use my phones for phone service that much but for data...lol

I did try it on my home wifi (Comcast) and got a speedtest of ~28Mbps down and ~10Mbps up. But on avg., I am getting between 0.6 - 1.1Mbps down and 0.5 - 0.9Mbps up on the 3G. This is about what it has always been when I have used my Touch. I also have a MiFi (for my GT 10.1) and can get 4G signal at home, so I really need to try a speedtest on that to see what I get.

The irony now is that when I was looking for apps for my android tabs, I kept seeing apps that I wanted that were only for iphone or ipad. But now that I have an iphone, I can't even think of anything I want anymore that I don't already have on the tabs. Guess I have to keep hunting around.

I run Linux at home as my main desktop (since 1998) and only stuck itunes 10.5 on a netbook w/XP that I keep turned off 95% of the time, so I suppose that may be why I haven't really browsed the Apple apps much. I am glad that IOS5 allows app installs w/o doing it through itunes on a PC/Mac.
