Kinda sick of all the bugs that come with custom roms and always flashing different roms got to be tedious I was never satisfied. Hope they're building ICS for us right now and if not I'll root and throw an ICS rom on my phone

Overall I'm happy with the device despite its reception shortcomings

I know what you mean, I haven't done much rom flashing on Android (just Cyanogenmod on a cousin's Moto Droid), but I did a ton of flashing back with my Touch Pro (Windows Mobile) and it was way more trouble than it was worth. But root is really easy for purposes of bloatware/overclocking/whatever. See below.

That worked perfectly for me and it was extremely easy. Didn't encounter any problems whatsoever.

Oh yes I'm aware I'm just keeping everything kosher with my warranty on this device don't know why I care but for now just keeping it straight stock. Maybe subconsciously putting this device to the test with the bloatware. I do phone reviews every now and then lol.

Lol, yeah after hearing about that I was rather glad I wasn't a Zappos user.

As far as using that to root, what option(s) did you pick? I just upgraded to the Hero S and am trying to just temp root so I can run Titanium Backup and also remove bloat, while staying in warranty in case I need to use the it. I tried the first two options which didn't seem to work. And visionary/z4 don't seem to work either.

Using that tool, you want "Prep using ZergRush," then "attempt perm root." Or something to that effect. Should work. Make sure you have the drivers on that page installed first. As long as you use those options and have the drivers installed it should be a painless process.

And it won't be a problem for warranty. I needed to warranty a Hero S I had rooted. Just restore the factory apps using TitaniumBackup, then manually remove the SuperUser app using either TitaniumBackup or a file explorer like EStrongs or Root Explorer. Then use the HTCSupertool to unroot. I got no complaints or charges after sending in the defective unit so that method apparently works fine.

Has anyone heard any interesting rumors as to whether the Hero S will get an official ICS update like the Sprint version is? I've been using the leaked Boost ROM but it had some issues and I got tired of using it. I'm back on stock Gingerbread now.
