I thought the advantage of "pure android" was being able to install and do what you wanted without rooting...

Well, yes, it would be that, only the carriers also have agendas that generally don't include the old-fashioned maxim: 'Give the customer what he wants.'

I'm just saying it's not "pure android" at that point, and the advantage of "pure android" to users like me is customizing most things without rooting. I'm guessing that I'm a more common consumer example of what the "pure android" appeal is than the rooting community.

This. I wouldn't try to turn you away from it or anything but that is one of the main selling points and why a lot of techie-like folks will be buying it; you can basically do with as you please with it.

Verizon has come out and said some nonsense today even though Google insists they are just not supporting it. Rooting and flashing on this phone is a piece of cake if you are that worried.

Otherwise if you really need Wallet support you can just hope and wait that these two manager their differences and it finally gets supported.

So when would be the earliest we could call telesales to put an order in? Would love to get the phone sooner than later.

FAUguy, did you get your test phone?
The manual seemed a little skimpy given that the OS is 4.x

This has to be the worst phone launch I've ever seen. Why are you doing this Verzion? Quit keeping us in the dark... my wallet is open and my debt card is in my hand waiting for this phone. At least let us pre-order!

I think the Bionic takes that cake.

Well that tipped the scales. I was tired of holding out for a phone I wasn't even sure I would like more than the Razr but I was willing to give it until Friday. I think I'll go pick up the Razr tonight and see what happens. I'll still be within my time frame if the Nexus comes out before the new year and it blows me away but I think I'm pretty set on the Razr.
