Actually there is one other problem I've been having, I am getting my text messages hours and even sometimes a day late...what's up with that?

I haven't had a problem with really getting them late but more getting repeats the same message getting sent to the phone more than once. Most of the time it is right away, but have had times when it has been mixed into a conversation where just all the sudden I'll start getting messages that I have already replied to. However, this doesn't just happen on my Esteem but also on the Indulge that my wife took over so I just relate this to Metro more than the phone.

Yeah I've been getting duplicate messages also but that usually only happens with the Facebook messages.

I used to get duplicate emails on my Ascend but no dupe texts and no dupes at all on my Esteem.

It has been happening a lot more lately, but nothing too alarming as it doesn't happen with all messages. I have also gotten a few times where I have gotten an error where it says it didn't send the message but it did go through and I know this because I'll get a response before I look at the phone to realize the message indication I just got was the failure message. Nothing like this with Facebook messages though, those always go through like they are supposed to. I only get the outgoing message error when I text too many messages too fast and I assume this again to be provider error as I get this with the Indulge as well

I've had the problem of duplicate messages on all metro phones. It's the service not the phones.

Anyway,it really seems like you guys all have a different phone than me. As far as the Esteem lagging...I haven't seen anything like that and my Esteem has never rebooted on itself. My phone is not rooted...don't know if yours is. Only problem I've had is running a graphic intense game [Contract Killer: Zombies] which will crash sometimes cause the phone is obviously not powerful enough to run that particular game, but other than that...no problems whatsoever with my Esteem.

Only idea I have for those of you who are having lag is to go to Settings-->Applications-->Running Services and check your available RAM on the bottom. If RAM free is less than 150 or so...you've probably got too much crap running in your background (in my opinion) and its probably slowing you down. Are you guys using live wallpapers or something? I think keeping close to half RAM free is a good idea for phone performance. If you have plenty of RAM free though and the phone is still lagging...then I don't really know what to tell ya, cause mine doesn't lag at all.

    Reboot.

I've been having that happen to me. I figured the reboots were maybe due to a software update or something since I'm an android newb. But happened to me while I was actually using it last week. Guess I'll have to bring it to the corp store for the update.

I did have a live wallpaper running on it and usually do, but that is how I can usually tell that it is lagging because the wallpaper will slow down a bit. However, as I stated, it isn't really bad lag, it's just a few seconds after pressing the power button and unlocking the screen. Once something finally opens up, it's fine, just a little annoying. I did however, recently turn the live wallpaper off to see how it will react now so I'll keep an eye on it now and see if that makes a big difference.

Well it doesn't matter how powerful the processor is, it's always going to lag when there is too much being sent to it. I mean it can only do so much at once, if you have one program using 100% of the processor then the other things are just going to have to wait. However, I think the biggest problem is that the RAM is full and being used up. Once the RAM is full, the processor then has to wait for the RAM to finish getting data from the storage that it needs to then be able to hold what the processor needs to be able to process that data. It's just like a computer, when your RAM gets full, the processor has to then wait for the HDD to load the data and transfer it to RAM so that it can be "processed". Well the same thing goes on in the phone, sure it's faster because you don't have a physical drive having to load the data, but you still have to wait for all the data to get where it is needed so that the processor can get the information. My Indulge was even worse, and still is. That thing has times when you press the power button, you have to wait for it to put all the icons back on the phone before you can even use it, and that would take 30-45 seconds sometimes.
