Nokia Lumia 710 supports AWS (Confirmed by FCC)

Engadget reported today that the Nokia Lumia 710 passed the FCC:

    http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/d...rough-the-fcc/

Naturally, I went to take a look at the FCC documents at the source link:

    https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/...d=%27QMNRM-809

If you click on "Test Results 1" and go to page 2, you will see the following:

The EUT is a 10-band mobile phone:
    GSM850/900/1800/1900/GPRS/EGPRS/Monopole without GND reflector (GSM/WCDMA)
WCDMA I/II(1900)/IV(1700)/V(850)/HSDPA/HSUPA/Monopole without GND reflector (GSM/WCDMA)
    WLAN/Bluetooth
So I guess that settles it Looks like good news for the WP7 fans here!

Edit: Also, most sources are saying this phone will cost around $375 on launch. Not a bad deal considering that it's a 1.4GHz single-core processor. I bet it won't take too long for it to drop below $350 on newegg once it's released.

If I was a betting man I'd bet that the 800 will have it too, since it basically has the exact same internals as the 710. Honestly, I wouldn't pay an extra $200 for a nicer looking case, slightly better camera, and an AMOLED screen of the same size and resolution... They have the same CPU/RAM/screen size/screen resolution.

The Nokia WP7s are very sexy. I saw some footage at MobileSyrup. And they make these phones in Finland (check out footage in MobileSyrup. Those look like Scandinavian adults, not Chinese kids to me). Not in some child labour sweatshop in China. And Nokia are known for having good radio antennae. If you took an iPhone 4s and dropped it on the pavement without any protection, there's a good chance the glass would shatter. Not with a Samsung Galaxy S II (made in Korea). I saw a video on youtube to prove it. And probably not with a high quality Nokia either. Even HTC has the decency to at least hire labour from Taiwan (where the company is actually based), a first-world country where the labour laws are respectable compared to the People's Republic of China. Though it has to be said that the Taiwanese firms do bend the rules a bit (so do American firms) and the government looks the other way (same in the US. How many illegal immigrants are hired in the US for peanuts?)

Let me sum up my view this way... WP7 alone doesn't excite me, and Nokia alone doesn't excite me. But WP7 and Nokia together.... THAT excites me

And interesting observation droidacolyte. It's pretty cool that Nokia can manufacture their phones in Europe while maintaining high quality and also competitive pricing.

WP7 seems like a "compromise" between iOS and Android. Thanks to Microsoft's hardware requirements, direct OS updates, and integration with Microsoft services, you end up getting a pretty integrated experience. On the other hand, thanks to their licensing model, you also have a pretty good selection when it comes to choosing a handset. Microsoft and Nokia are both big forces that can not be ignored... I think they will make a big impact in the near future. Google really screwed up by not even updating their own Nexus One to ICS, when it's not even 2 years old yet. I suspect that we will have a lot of frustrated Android users moving to WP7.
