Impressive, youtube at 1XRTT, which has a theoretical maximum download rate of 153 kbps. Does using youtube, myspace, etc. trigger the 99 cents mobile web charge?

Not terrible. Too bad Opera is Vz branded (but of course...). I understand that Att's wap browser is actually a rebrand of Opera Mini too.. and touchscreen yes but 3g/evdo, even rev 0? No . You still have to get one of the few Verizon prepaid phones that had 3G (Chocolate series and a few others. Idk if you can load Vz's branded Opera Mini on there...)

Verizon is making progress. This is their first touchscreen and first phone with Opera Mini to be allowed on the daily, paygo and $50 plans. People wishing for a smartphone plan with unlimited everything on Vz prepaid can dream on. The closest thing out there to that is Page Plus's $55 /utnt/500 meg plan.

I'm not sure if you mean the "Social Networks" screen with Facebook/Twitter/Myspace, but I find the Social Media screen to be useless. The only one of the three that I use is Twitter, and there doesn't seem to be any way to reorder the items to move it to the top. It's easier to just treat Twitter as a contact.

Or do you just mean that activity on all of these show up on the same screen of current conversations? If so, then that makes sense. I haven't enabled receiving tweets since I got the phone. With a pay as you go plan, there's no such thing as a tweet that can't wait till I get to a desktop, except when I'm on the road.

Verizon feature phones will always have some kind of lockdown/lack of user override it seems. If users find overrides for annoyances/lockdowns , please list.

Yes, The SMS Inbox is threaded. The Social Media screen is a threaded list of all services. SMS/Facebook..etc etc which I find pointless myself. The Facebook and twitter tabs are just preloaded text compose message to send status/wall post via text to facebook mobile..etc.

Will it let you download wallpaper from zedge.net from the phone's browser or from opera mini?

A friend of mine has this phone. Reminds me of a mini version of the lg Rumor Touch (note: I never had that phone). I must admit I was surprised by the phone. Keep in mind this is not an android. Web browser exceeded my expectations (I had very low expectations). The browser loaded up sites much quicker (than I anticipated) - it has opra mini browser with espn, weather bug facebook, myspace, and utube already bookmarked for the browser. Utube comes up quicker than expected and runs well with no problems. The phone had limited apps (very, very few). We tried to steam radio stations via browser (both using the direct radio web sites and tunein website) with no success. We also tried downloading apps from getjar with no success. The phone shows an app for steaming radio stations, however when we tried to pay for it from the "cart", we were told app was no longer available (odd that you could see app and place in cart to add to phone, yet not available). While I do not have this phone, I would be tempted to tryout both the phone and Verizon's prepaid 50 dollar plan, if I could figure out how to steam music/radio over the browser. The phone's touch screen was what I expected for a non-smart phone. I found it easier and more accurate to use the directional keys from the phone's keyboard. While small, the phone appeared to have a good keyboard.
While this is not my phone, this was my brief review of playing with a friend's.
I am on America's Largest and Most Reliable Wireless Network.
    Thank you Page Plus.

I might get this phone when it's available on contract. If anyone has used the the mp3 player, does it read tags correctly, and can you make playlists?

As their ONLY feature phone touchscreen allowed, the Extravert will probably be a best seller on the $50 plan. Opera helps for sure.

I'd like to see someone rate this for how well it works making and receiving calls plus speakerphone etc.

It makes and receives calls just fine. Clear and crispy. Speaker is very loud and clear. The MP3 Reads tags fine. I haven't had a problem with tags being messed up. But the MP3 player can't be put in background. If you want to text or use menus, you have to exit the player and stop your music.

It would be interesting to hear from someone who has compared the two phones. While I have never physically seen the lg 511 from straight talk, I am assuming that the Lg extavert is the mini version of the straight talk phone. They both look very similar in appearance. It would be interesting to know if the lg 511 has opra mini for the browser (if not, can it be loaded onto the phone?).

My thought about the Extravert/Unleashed plan.

As we all know, most companies wont let us have our cake and eat it too. Great, a $50 unlimited all plan right? No. You can't even take full advantage of this plan because they restrict on their devices only available for this plan in a way you can't see it.

First off. This phone is locked down more than a nuns chastity belt. All downloads, Opera mini, Gmail..etc, All java and brew apps are locked out. The only browser you can use is the Branded VZ Opera mini which has so many features taken out its worthless. You can't download photos from it, You can't download other apps. The browser is made to be as data efficient as possible..(You can't even enlarge facebook mobile photos..as it says no downloads permitted).

Second.. Not sure if this is an Extravert issue or Verizons network, 2 or 3x a week I have to *228 reprogram my phone because incoming text just stop...It takes me an hour or so each time to notice when it happens when my phone just goes silent as if everyone in my contact book just died.. After the reprogram and reboot, I get a gaillion messages at once... This is ridiculous.

Third. The MMS function of the phone is a POS. You have 4 camera resolution settings. 1600x1200...Which is probably the 2MP scale. 1280x960 which is probably 1.3MP scale, and you have the lower VGA..640x480 and 320x240.
GO ahead and try to set it to the 2MP 1600x1200 resolution which is default and take a photo and send it. You wanna know what comes through on the other end? Well, a s**ty photo that seems to be about a 1"x1" photo. Viewed on any other phone, as it scales the photo to fit the screen, its worthless enough not to even bother sending one. I sent one to my sisters iPhone, and when she got it. You couldn't even make out what the photo was of..Now Verizon, I know a 2MP camera photo is not big chunk of a data file, WHY on earth does it need to be "re-sized" down to something you cant even make out? Ok, so I moved down to 1280x960 Resolution, did the same thing, Can barely make out what it is after you receive it and its blurred beyond belief. Ok so I changed it to the 640x480 resolution, It STILL re-sized it and made it blurry and unrecognizable after receiving. The only photo it didn't re-size and ruin was the 320x240 photo which by hand is a pile of s**t anyways. Was almost as bad as the ones it re-sized cause it has to stretch to fit any other phone it was received on. Unless you are transferring the photos to your computer, After resizing the photos you take with the camera...their worthless, and beyond the worst image quality I have ever seen. I don't even send photos anymore because people always ask what is it or why are your pictures so blurry. I don't know if this is a network configuration or just programmed into these phones a way to cut back on data sent on these unleashed phones because no other verizon phone have I seen this happen to their photos. I know AT&T have a 600k limit on multimedia messages, Which at 600K can produce a very good photos, Verizon must have these phones set to compress images down to at least 100k or less, which makes image quality unbearable.

So as far as I'm concern the MM function of this phone are crap and worthless. Everything is set on this phone that uses data, to consume as least as possible. I'm dumping this garbage and going to AT&T $50 a month unlimited. At least they allow 3G phones to be used, Hell, any phone at that, Smartphones just have to have a separate data plan. Verizon really is ripping customers a new ******e for this mess of a plan they call a "deal".

Good to hear the voice and mp3 reports. At least this phone seems to be able to handle these basic tasks.

As for the picture, internet, and app limitations, it sound like it works pretty much like my ENV3. Basically the same complaints heard for years on Verizon feature phones. It's probably not going to change. At least Opera is available, it's much improved over the stock browser, and the stock browser is still there if you want/need to use it.
