after a month of having my LG Extravert on the $50 unlimited talk/text/web plan I am going back to the $1.99 daily plan. I am just going to pay 20 bucks a month and get unlimited texting cause that is really all I do.
I am a college student and most of my friends just text anyway
The only thing I really used the web for anyway is facebook mobile, and I can just use my laptop for that, and I really dont talk that much so there is no need.
I got a update to my LG Extravert the other day and this is what it fixes
1. Memory issue
2. Fixed touch is wrong behavior
3. Add option to Re_send MMS to failed recipients
4. New PRL 57011
5. Update Opeara mini browser(189 --> 191)
6. Reset when MMS receive after Spanish set
7. Occurred noise to mono headset connect to MP3 play
I got alot more phone memory after I did the update. I download the update on my computer and transferred it to my phone with the verizon lg software updater if that helps
I found a unlock code last night on youtube to get to a hidden menu. Pull up your dial pad and enter ##program271 then hit send/call. When the next screen comes up it will ask you for a service code, the video said to enter 000000. I cannot tell you what is on the hidden menu because when I got to the service code and put in the zero's it said my code is incorrect. If you try this and get in please let me know if the Zero's work for you and what's in the other menu.
I bought this phone in an effort to get away from the regular contract plans I've been under for years. The BIGGEST problem I have is the "Mobile Email" service that is loaded on the phone. It is free for 10days and then you have to pay for it. $6/month. With this and the slower speed and the Mobile Web instead of full internet ... you can see why it is a $50 unlimited but VERY limited plan. That being said, I'm not a video person or care tremendously about full internet/facebook/etc kinda of stuff. If anyone knows a way to download/override or otherwise get some version of Web Email that doesn't add another monthly expense ... I'd love to know it!

If you can access your email via the onboard web browser you can set gmail to forward a copy of your email to your phones email address. (Send a text message from your phone to your email address to see what your devices email address is.) The reason to set the email forwarding to your phone is to enable your phones text messaging to act as a new email notification feature. Once you receive the text message simply launch your web browser, select your gmail bookmark, and log onto your email account.

P R E P A I D is just another way to offer (and pay for) premium services and devices.

Nobody locks down a phone better than Verizon and its BREW based apps.
If you must have Verizons coverage I understand, a used DROID on Page Plus might work.
There are scores of better options out there for under 50 a month, contract free.
The work around Vmobi suggested will work depending on your email provider.
