Rooting is extraordinarily easy (on Windows). Highly recommend it, or perhaps you could borrow a friend/relative's machine for a few minutes. Once rooted with superOneClick you can do what you like

I am disgusting with my Exhibit II! It lags and my internet is only connecting at UMTS speeds. The camera sucks so badly. I am looking for a phone to replace it.

Why isn't the Exhibit II listed on the Tmobile prepaid website?

Amazon is back to listing for $189 and is the full retail version and sold by Amazon.
(SIM and activation code is part of the package.)
For the $30/5gb/100 min. plan, DO NOT CALL T-Mobile to activate.
Do it online at their site.

Interesting the customer reviews are all over the place, some perhaps ill informed.

Well I've had the phone for about a month and a half and I'm completely satisfied at this point. I did root it, uninstalled or froze some apps, got rid of the annoying beep when it is charged, and unlocked it for use on other networks. My husband and I were both able to use our phones on the Meteor network in Ireland when we were there for Christmas. And I no longer have the text failure problem after installing Go SMS Pro as my default messaging app.

I am very happy with the phone and plan, and I'm glad I finally was able to join the smartphone world for a reasonable price.

    --------

Just started the third month of the $30 plan.
Except for the phone not being rooted yet, so far so good, charged beep and all.

We are not smack in the middle of widespread 4G coverage area but this has not been a drawback for voice and text.

Without the strongest available 4G signal GrooVe IP does not work as it should, but even with very good wifi network, results have been spotty for me. But this is only in my case and can't speak for others.
However, I don't do a whole lot of yapping on the phone, so the 100 minutes has been adequate for meeting our needs and I haven't had to bother with workarounds.

There are phones that do not have Tethering Manager blocking tethering and this has been reported and discussed at this forum so please search the forum. Same thing with the first question.
    Exhibit II requires rooting.

wow, it gets so many great reviews. I am on a regular plan with Tmobile and have to keep current number. Is it OK to activate Exhibit with the $3 balance and then insert my current sim card? Thank you!

Not sure if this was brought up at this prepaid forum but now you have me wondering.
