    Moto H17 BT headset issues

I posted on the Droid X area but have received no responses so I'm cross posting here to get a wider audience. I'm really desperate to fix this issue.

    Hardware: Motorola H17 BT headset
    Android version: 4.5.605 rooted
    Phone: Droid X

Recently this headset has developed a problem in that the microphone doesn't seem to be working. Sometimes the receiving party hears a distorted buzzing sound but can't make out what is being said, but sometimes they hear nothing. Thinking the problem was a hardware failure on the headset, I bought a new headset. The problem still exists.

Actions I've taken: (1) I am able to use the headset on an iPhone. (2) Unpaired and deleted the headset and re-paired the headset to the phone. (3) I've connected a different BT headset to the Droid X, and it works fine (4) I've deleted the contents of data/misc/bluetoothd folder which deletes all BT devices.

Since this phone is rooted, please don't suggest doing a factory reset unless you know this will solve the problem.

This headset has worked before recently on the same hardware and Android version. It almost seems like there is a corrupt file somewhere that needs to be deleted, but I don't know what that might me.

Edit: This is getting stranger all the time. The BT mic issue is only on phone calls. The mic works when recording voice memos on the phone. I've also done a factory reset but the problem continues.

Try the BT forum, but I have an H17 with the original Moto Droid phone and it works quite well!

Btw, where is the Droid X forum, I'm thinking about buying a used one for 70 bucks from Cowboom. And I want impressions of weather it's a good device or not.

Which Android version are you running? I think4.5.605 might be the issue, but then why would other BT headsets work OK? Thanks for the tip about checking the BT forum.

The Droid X forums is at droidxforums dot com.

I don't have a DX, but want to buy a used one, but the H17txt runs perfectly on my 2.2.1 Optimus V. I have a Droid that my wife uses, but when we paired it and used it, I saw theft in her eyes! The thing is so light you don't know it's on, and I got it for 30 bucks including shipping....Amazon!

As near as I can tell there is no way to upgrade the firmware on the H17. If you know of a way to upgrade the firmware, please post it here. DX's should be cheap on eBay because the model is kind of long in the tooth.

My contract has been up for a long time, but I haven't seen anything worth getting to replace it with yet. At least nothing worth signing a new two-year contract. For my DX, I have a car and home dock and a spare battery. I would have to buy all that again if I got a new phone. I think I'll wait until my area has 4G.

Did your DX upgrade go well. I've been looking into them because you can get a used one for 80 bucks. Many other DX users have reported that the Moto Gingerbread update killed it.
