Possible to Activate while roaming on Sprint?

I have a CDMA USA iPhone 4, which has a good ESN for both Sprint and Verizon. The carrier settings are set to Verizon, so I'm unable to activate on Sprint unless I wait for a jailbreak and inject the sprint PRL. If I go into a Sprint roaming area would the phone activate? Hopefully there are no controls set in place over this, but maybe someone could chime in that knows the inner-workings of how activations work within Sprint.

My next question is there a way to force roam the iPhone or does anyone know a specific spots in Los Angeles that are Sprint roaming zones for Verizon customers.BTW, I was looking for the Sprint tower info thread, but couldn't find it for some reason.

It boils down to this: if the ESN is not in their system they will not activate it regardless of what you do. It's not clear from your post but it sounds like this iPhone 4 was originally on Verizon. If that's the case you won't be able to activate it and there's no way around that.

This is a perfect example of why I would love to see the whole ESN nonsense go away and every phone use a SIM (or R-UIM). Yes locking is still an issue but that is easier to overcome than a provider refusing to register your ESN.

ESN is on Sprint AND Verizon. It's just the carrier settings are programmed to Verizon, thus why I started this thread. I guess I didn't clarify that in the first sentence.

Apparently Not to some but always good to use "Bold Letters" to help explain things when in doubt.

if you do a hard reset it should clear the carrier settings out and then just activate over wifi, then it should push the proper carrier settings to the phone.

carrier settings are hard coded into the phone, it won't allow you to erase them with a factory reset. I talked to an apple "senior" tech, he said I would have to get verizon to unlock it or jailbreak it.
