Is macroplant iExplorer a virus or not?

I'm trying to fix a problem with a nonjailbroken phone that isn't able to show photos with OS5

everything on google points to using www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/

but when I install the software. Malwarebytes anti-malware warns of a backdoor.bifrose virus.

Has anyone used iexplorer with antivirus running?

Or is there another tool that allows access to Iphone files when its not jailbroken?

What do you mean it's not able to show photos? Did you sync the photos via iTunes to the phone? Is the sync successful? What happens when you open the Photos app? You do not need any third-party apps to sync and view photos.

    PRL Interpretations
    XFF's AlphaTag software
    Cellular and PCS License Maps

I recently plugged my phone running iOS 5 into my Windows PC not running iTunes, and was able to import all my photos instantly. Windows detected that the standard DCIM camera roll and asked if I wanted to import photos. No 3rd party doohickey hinky software. I have no idea what you are trying to do. Most modern desktop operating systems can auto-import photos from most cell phone camera's camera rolls right into your user "My Pictures" directory of your "My Documents" directory of Windows, for example.

when I open the photo app on the phone it opens to a black screen with a black toolbar. I cant swipe left or right

when I open the camera app I can see the photo in the lower left but when I click on it. it opens and says no photos.

when I plug the phone into the computer it isnt visiable as a drive like other iphones do

Itunes does see the phone and I can snyc the phone. It is set to sync photos to a folder but it doesnt

It seems like the database is corrupt and thats why I was trying iExploror to fix the issue.

but when I download the file I get that virus warning.

My iPhone isn't visible as an external drive when plugged into my Windows computer, with or without iTunes installed, only as a camera.

I would restore the iPhone back to factory and start from scratch. If that doesn't fix it, try the Apple Store or customer service.

Second that. Something has gone awry on your phone. Your best bet is to restore the OS.

I meant its available as a camera when I plug the phone in not as a drive.

I didn't want to do a restore and lose the photos so, I managed to get ifunbox working and rescue the photos.

    then I deleted

    com.apple.photos.caches_metadata.plist
    Photos.sqlite
    PhotosAux.sqlite

after restarting my phone I was able to access the photos from the phone. All is well now.
