Question Samsung Galaxy Precedent Gingerbread update?

Does anyone have any information whether or not the Precedent will ever get updated? Gingerbread perhaps? It seems kind of ridiculous that Android is coming out with Ice Cream Sandwich, and yet the version on this phone is still Froyo. The phone should at least stay one version behind. I understand processor and RAM limitations, but you would think Android would be able to optimize the Firmware to function on the Precedent.

Been searching Google and elsewhere on the interwebz since I got this phone, with no luck of course.

    Thoughts? Input?

Its possible. Up to straight talk to make the call. The lg optimus one already started getting 2.3. My AT&T Avail Go Phone has 2.3.4 factory installed.

According to the Prevail (sister phone on Boost Mobile) forum on AndroidForums.com,
the Prevail will NOT run 2.3 Gingerbread
    due to CPU limitations

I think your best bet right now is to root it, remove the bloatware, and use some scripts to tweak the memory/speed.
