I recently signed up for wind mobile in Canada, as part of their now passed "super smart" plan, which included unlimited data. Along with it i got the LG GD570 (dlite). I know it's not prepped to take full advantage of a data connection, but i figured i could still make use of it, and i liked the phone otherwise.
Now, the built in browser works fine, don't get me wrong. There is no connection issue there. Though of course, it's kind of clunky, so i wanted to try something different, and this is where i'm stuck now.
Well at first i just tried to download e-buddy, it installed no problem, but then as it goes to run, i always get this error.
"CONNECTION FAILED. Your internet settings must be activated for java applications, or try again later. Etc"
Well after this initial try, i took a hunt around for said java settings, looked up and down through the phone, and couldn't find any settings that would let me have any control over how these java apps connect. Okay, i thought, maybe it's just this program, i'll try something else.
I downloaded Opera Mini 6, put it on the phone, starts up no problem, but as it attempts to connect online in the initial set up, i get this error everytime i try to run it; " Unable to connect to the internet. Please check your settings."
Having still not found any settings that help, i tried earlier versions of opera mini. I get a similar error with 4.
Opera mini 3 basic installs without the internet, but once it's running, i still can't do anything, it simply has no connection online.
Hunting around online led me to look for some sort of "engineer menu", so i did.
I found 3 seperate hidden menus through all my digging online.
3845#*570# is the "Test Mode". It gives me some version information numbers. A factory reset option, a list of device tests, Modem Settings, and App Settings. Now these last two options got me excited, but, neither actually contains adequate options to make anything work. There are some interesting settings in Modem Settings, but nothing that has allowed my java apps to connect.
1809#*570# is the "Factory Menu". I get the same list of device tests, an "ELT Mode", which seems to be some sort of backlight tests? A "SW Sanity test", which includes an "FPRI Test", and a "DB Check". Theres also a factory reset option again, and various version numbers aswell.
277634#*# is the "Operator Menu". The most useless of all. I get a repeat of version numbers. Factory reset. Modem Settings, and App Settings. Nothing beyond the "Test mode".
I'm told theres some elusive "Engineer Menu" which gives you access to every setting on the phone, but i've been unable to find it. Something to let me modify my app specific connection settings, or something.
All my continued digging online has found only this information here, and since it still hasn't gotten me what i want, then i guess i have to start asking.
It has been nearly a month, this is still an issue and has not been solved.
Hi, I have the same problem. I did manage to set the APN by entering engineering mode. I can access net using the default browser. But i cannot get the apps to use the newly set access points.
Do share if you have any info.
thanks
