This is false information. Sprint's net postpaid losses were only 44,000 for the quarter.

    Compare this to T-Mobile:

"Branded contract net customer losses, excluding connected devices, were 389,000 in the third quarter of 2011"

That's almost 9 times as many losses.

T-Mobile's issue, is that their pricing dept needs to be revamped. Why would you have someone sign a contract, and pay nearly $300 as a down payment, then have them pay the rest? I see that as a disaster. If, I am paying $200 to $300 for a phone on contract and have to pay the rest in monthly installments, why not just buy the phone outright on retail, to avoid the contract nonsense.

They aren't giving people the incentive to stay, or sign up. Can you imagine them having the iPhone, but having people pay the contracted $299 price, but having them pay monthly installments on top of that, until they reach the $499, $599, or $699 retail price? They are crazy.

Watch them revamp and get rid of their "classic" and "value" plans sometime in the next 2 to 4 months, following their dreadful Q4 numbers. They gonna lose so many customers, cause people will want iPhone for Christmas, and the holidays, and T-Mobile just can't make that happen for them.

The numbers were for illustrative (and argumentative) purposes only. If you read it correctly, I began the statement with "But the argument is that if " not that they did and I think your a bit misinformed as Lenny17 had his posts removed which would have given you an understanding of what we were debating.

However, it is still not good to loose 1 customer.

Because even if you buy the phone outright, you still have to sign a 2 year contract if you want Value Plan pricing. So if T-Mobile is going to let you delay paying for the half of the retail amount, interest free, why would you pay it upfront?

If you want to pay only the contracted price, all you have to do is buy it on a classic plan.

Not everyone wants to change their rate plan to a current plan, with will be dismantled in a few months, to a year, cause they can't seem to get things right. Ever since the "Get More" sunset days, their rate plans change more than the weather.

I think right now the plans are pretty attractive on both the pre and postpaid side of things. Don't you think it would be a good idea to lock in for another 2 years if it looks like the acquisition is going to go forward?

And now we know why T-Mobile launched the $30 plan with 5GB of "4G" data (then throttled thereafter) + unlimited text and 100 minutes.

They always seem to do something new when bad numbers are coming up.

This will help the overall numbers but I can't see it bringing that much profit... It will lower the overall ARPU.

I feel the numbers are actually pretty good for all the people I've seen not choose t-mobile because of all the merger talk.

They've changed their plans a lot in the last 1-2 years. Other than a lack of data, I'm very happy with my grandfathered plan. I'm hoping they'll let me have that Preferred Android on both my lines, should I renew my contract. I'm eligible for a full upgrade in December, and my contract expires in February, but I'll probably wait until the last minute because of all the plan changes. With all the changes T-Mobile has gone through, there's no telling what they'll be offering in the next 3-6 months.

Tmobile needs to do something different with their plans. Having a classic plan and value plan confuses most people. People want discounted phones from the Classic plans and low prices from the Value plans. I think they need find a middle ground between Classic and Value plan prices and make this middle ground the new prices.

I liked their plan setup much better in the "old days." It's part of why I kept my grandfathered plan from 2005. I got a nice, basic talk plan, then added my messaging package and eventually data, all the way I wanted. I didn't have to take a plan with everything. With my "old school" plan, I can drop what I don't want, should I change my mind about anything.
