Judging by the lack of response to my question, i'm assuming I got a defective unit. Guess i'm going back to Verizon today.

They had first told me to to replace the sim. And they did. It didn't work. They are thinking it will come in a software update.

Are you saying Yahoo mail won't work on a Razr? It works fine on mine.

Nope. And that's why mine is going back too. Had to charge 3 times yesterday (usage really wasn't that heavy - about an hour of talk time and some e-mails) and I've een monitoring what apps are running. What's the point of a 4g phone with a huge screen if I have to coddle and coax battery life out of it by constantly babysitting it.

I upgraded from the original Droid to the RAZR. I have NO screen problems. It is beautiful. I do have a problem with the On/Off button and the volume rocker. They seem so flimsy and weak. On my Original Droid, the On/Off switch got worn out so I'm very worried about this issue. I work 10 hour shifts and this phone was kaput before I drove home. I'll try turning off the 4G and getting rid of some email syncs but so far, I'm leaning toward returning this phone. CPU total 1h 23m, 23m voice time, phone idle 10 hours, display on time 18 minutes. This is what I had and the phone was dead in 10 hours. Not impressive. It also seems to take a long time to charge.

Edit: I uninstalled Yahoo Mail App and turned off the 4G for the majority of the night. The Battery is now at acceptable levels. I read on other sites that the Yahoo App is bad news?

Yes Moto is aware of the Yahoo app. It's best to just download it from the market.

i use 4g the same way i used to use wifi.. i just turn off 4g unless im going to use the internet to browse or stream music.. i feel like 3g is good enough for simple things like syncing with email and facebook.. and now my battery lasts all day no problem

i do wish there was a widget to turn 4g on and off though.. that would make this process much easier

Mine's going back tomorrow. Full charge last night, two calls, some texts and a fair number of emails = 20% battery by kickoff. What's the point of having (and paying for) 4G when you have to turn it off all the time?

No, I'm saying when a computer or tablet is connected via mobile hotspot, that computer/tablet can't open yahoo or yahoo mail. It works if usb tethered, but not as a hotspot.

Why not get an extended battery? The T-bolt had major battery problems out of the gate and some folks got the bigger battery which worked until those issues were resolved.

Why not add something useful instead of going around baiting people for an argument. You are full well aware of the fact that this phone doesn't have a removable battery and you don't mind telling people how against that feature you are so this probably isn't the thread for you.

Well, you're mostly right. But your plight right now does tend to support my argument. Also, there is good reason for me to be here: people are describing the D4 as a slide RAZR.
I have waited a very long time for an LTE D3 and I'm more than a little unhappy that vzw is trying to shove a hardwired battery down my throat. There could be someone here that would want to see why - before their grace period expires.
That said, I will agree that you have a wholly valid point and I really do owe this topic an apology. It was wrong to be kicking around in here while people are down and scrambling to find their feet. I should have resisted that temptation. I am sorry.
I will now go home to my D4 thread.

    Oops! I lied.
But I've been in Jster's hole. I took my T-Bolt back in March for exactly the same kind of behavior you describe. I now regret that. The way things are, LTE and skinny phones don't match up well. No phone right now is going to hold a charge all day with LTE on all the time. But the LTE experience is well worth a little inconvenience. It is very possible to manage the battery issues if you are willing to put some effort into learning how.
I could've kept that TB, but 2 weeks just wasn't enough time to be sure. These folks will figure it out. If you really like the RAZR otherwise - that's the key - then give it a chance.
Hope that's useful. Going home now.

Sorry to hear this. I have great battery life (Avg 8-12 hours) depending on use. I leave 4G on all the time as well.

In wonder if it's because you are in a fringe area?

If you want to see if your phone exhibits this issue, go into a dark room and power the phone off and on. The blotches are randomly scattered pixels and lines across the screen.
I just got in a demo unit to try out and also see the dark lines and blotches if the sceen is all black or dark gray.
I can also see it if you power the phone off and plug in the wall charger. You can see it on the black parts of the screen if you cover up the battery charge icon in the middle.

So I guess all of the Razrs have this issue due to it using a Samsung Super AMOLED?
I hope the Samsung Galaxy Nexus doesn't have this problem.

Even though I'm 6'4" and have big hands, I also agree that the Razr feels too wide and is uncomfortable to hold for phone calls for long periods of time. This is due to the frame around the display being wider than the Bionic and Rezound, which both of those are more comfortable to hold.

When comparing the screen, the Rezound does look the sharpest and most detailed. The Razr still looks a bit jagged with text, but not as bad as the Bionic. For colors, the Razr does give the most eye pleasing results.

I'm also getting very good 4G signal reception on the Rezound in the house, while the Razr and Bionic keepin dropping to 3G.
When going into the *#*#4636#*#* menu, the Rezound is showing -87db to -91db of signal in the house while connected to 4G, but the Razr and Bionic show a lower signal of -94db to -98db, and once it drops down to -100db, it will then automatically change to 3G EVDO and show a signal of -82db.

Between the Razr and Rezound, its a tough call as to which one I like best.
Still holding out to see what the Nexus will bring.
