Battery last DAYS with new hypersim on the SH-01B

So, I got this new hypersim from DealExtreme - waited for six weeks before it arrived three days ago - and installed it on my girlfriend's SH-01B.

When I replaced the hypersim (was using a old red Mr. SIM till now) the phone's battery was at approximately 60%. THREE DAYS later, at this very moment, the battery is at 20%. This is absolutely amazing because up until three days ago the phone had to be charged every day. For the past three days, my girlfriend has made more than 15 calls of at least a minute and a half each and has received about the same number of calls. The pedometer is always on and when walking around town the phone does change towers quite a bit - no signal out so far, but I used to have to CPR it once every few days.

A difference is that the network type icon is now the GSM one, while it used to show GPRS before. When I reboot the phone (a couple of times during these past three days, for testing purposes) a message appears saying "Outgoing calls barred" or something of the sort but it always connects right after that. Singal strenth is quite good (but it always has been) - 3 or 4 bars.

This hypersim won't work in 3G mode (signal out and have to CPR) but that might be due to the SIM being very old. Neither will MTP mode work as I was hoping it would, but this significantly extended battery life ROCKS!

The hypersim is a "New i-SmartSim 2008 Operator Network SIM Card Unlock Attachment" and cost me $3.48 with free shipping.

Now, I am not saying this will work for everyone. And I also don't know how stable it is. I am just saying that it's now been THREE FULL DAYS and the battery has gone down from 60% to 20% and I am quite sure it will last the entire day today at a minumum (it's noon right now).

So, yeah, three to four days with one charge, no signal out so far, not even once

Apparently this hypersim prevents the phone from keeping a data connection open, which it does even though there's no internet connection - which explains the icon change from GPRS to GSM - thus saving on battery.

The find is interesting, indeed. Actually, it's not me who's enjoying it, you know. I'm the servicing and maintenance guy

Ah, the good ol' i-smartsims. Dirt cheap and gets the job done. I'm surprised it works on phones beyond the 905/6 series, though.

I don't think docomo ever changed their simlock since the 905 series. I'm still using a hypersim i got from my P905i with my F-06B.
