Continuing from Part 1 of this thread....
This thread is for discussing speculation, rumors, desires, wants, etc in upcoming VM USA phone releases. Only topics DIRECTLY related to this are allowed to be discussed.
Discussion of networks, network upgrades, how one network compares to another, whether _____ phone will work on VM USA, how to get ____ phone to work on VM USA, are specifically NOT ALLOWED. If posts are made asking for such, report them--do not answer off topic questions. Am I making it clear enough that off topic discussion is NOT ALLOWED in this thread?
Now, on to the speculation and rumors about what hardware VM USA may or may not see in the comings months and years....

Operating without a contract makes you far more valuable.
Still hopeful for Optimus Black, or something better. Please VM, no more screens that are smaller than iphone displays. We have enough 3.2" screens already.
Any 4G rumblings, anyone hear anything. I predict it will happen by1 st quarter of 2012. Also it will be another MVNO arrangement but that is a given. This is my conjecture, I have no factual information

Dont think we will see 4G... Maybe a MiFi but whatever we get it wont be unlimited unless its throttled down to low speeds.
Home ISP, RR-Ultimate WiFi, $90/mo | Verizon 4G, $30/mo Unlimited
School, $5,000/semester | Work
December announcements would be nice. December launches would be welcome. Q1 2012 realities might be seen as groundbreaking by many. January might be good for introducing prepaid fruits.![]()
Black Friday looms on the horizon. What's the general feeling here? If we don't see any new handsets released by BF, is that it as far as any new handsets in 2011?
I have been a customer of Virgin Mobile USA since 2003. In all that time, I have never seen them release a new handset in November or December. My belief is that this is because they sell such a high-percentage of phones through chain retailers. Chain retailers set their shelf displays for the holiday season in early November and their focus until Christmas is keeping those shelves full. They do not want their employees devoting time to resetting displays, because this is an important time of the year for selling.
So my short answer to your question is NO... there won't be any more new handsets introduced in 2011.
VMUSA's usual next date for a handset introduction is around Valentine's Day.
When the 4G data service and devices arrive they will include Unlimited options.
VM announced it would not start to throttle 3G data speeds until 2012.
There is a developing buzz amongst various i-friendly sites indicating that Virgin Mobile USA will be introducing the iPhone 4/4s (4"v" ???) at around the same time they initiate the data "throttle" - while still providing unlimited 3G data as previously announced.![]()
Oh boy, a mid-range phone with iOS on it? I talked with a mobile pro the other day about the iPhone 4s. It went something like
"What if you want more storage?"
"I don't."
"What if you want a better screen?"
"I don't."
"What if you want a different keyboard?"
"I don't."
"What if you want a better app selection?"
"I don't."
What's up with people's fetish to pay more for less? American consumerism?
What if I read the first post warning users this thread is not for off topic discussion?
"I didn't" isn't an excuse.![]()
If it's coming to VM Canada, maybe in the USA soon? I would buy this one!

It's been discussed before - VM Canada and VM USA are two completely different companies. One VM carrying a phone does not change the odds of the other VM carrying said phone.
While I wouldn't expect an iPhone on VM, it would only be a previous generation iPhone (iPhone 4) if they did. I would also expect it to cost somewhere in the range of $499 and/or a monthly surcharge similar to the old BB fee.
My guess is that the data cap (throttled after 2.5GB) will arrive right around the release date of the next mid-to-high-range Android such as the Optimus Black.
