If the One V is aiming for a $200 or lower price point am I right in thinking that this will be the $300 device for VM? Maybe $350?

If the evo 3D shows up... that will be amazing. I'll buy it in the blink of an eye.

That formula had worked well with Boost Mobile in the past and can continue to work for both VM and Boost into the future...
It allows a 2nd chance for success for devices that produced little to no sales movement on the contract side.
Sprint should do this with all their devices, if they suddenly populated VM's PayLo with former Sprint feature phones that paygo service might suddenly start to produce record setting Virgin Mobile subscriptions.
That will probably be the msrp, hopefully they will start to offer a 1st month Unlimited Everything free with purchase. That could encourage many new subscribers onto VM's Unlimited Everything service option.

CON-Tracts??? We don't need no stinking contracts!
All this HTC news is setting up nicely with tomorrows Sprint-HTC event.
The Evo 3D 4G will likely require new 4G data plans, so doesn't look good for those with $25/mo grandfathered plans.

lets hope virgin's 4g is actually somewhat decent. Although, I would not buy this phone if it required a more expensive 4g plan; wifi is plentiful where I usually go. The bigger screen and higher resolution are what I would buy it for (and all the other specs are an upgrade too).
Could be a nice black friday/cyber monday deal. :-P
It actually is confirmed to get ICS later this year. http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-sa...re-phones-list
Read the source above, am excited to at least see the possibility VM hasn't been left out in the cold.
But if I were staying with VM, I'd still consider the HTC One V over the Evo. The Evo with its dual-core proc will run more smoothly and multitask more easily, but it seems to me single-core procs tend to have better battery life.
In the mean time, still have a few months left on my VP plan before it officially dies. Really wish Sprint would stop clocking down data speeds for SF VM subscribers.
The One V is a decent enough low-end phone, particularly with the battery life taken into consideration, but I have to say that I'm not at all impressed with its specs even given its target market. If its CPU was clocked a bit higher, if it had more RAM - say, 768MB - and it supported either HDMI or NFC, I'd probably pick one up. I have small hands, so its size would be fine by me.
But even if it had all that, it'd be hard to pass up something with (apparently) as much community support as the EVO 3D. Wednesday can't get here soon enough!
CPU clock speeds haven't been as prevalent in determining a processor's overall performance in everyday usage since the 1990s. The iPhone's A5 processor is clocked at 800MHz but still manages to pump out impressive benchmarks. The HDMI output sounds nice on paper, but I have to question how often it'll be used. NFC IMO is kind of a wash until it becomes more widely adopted by more B&M vendors.
I understand architectural differences in processors, believe me; on the desktop side of things, I recently built a new gaming computer using one of Intel's Sandy Bridge CPUs since AMD royally mucked up Bulldozer. I'm basing my opinion of the One V's specs on my time using the Triumph, which uses the same CPU. There wasn't as much of a difference between it and the Op-V as I thought there would be.
That said, the One V should almost completely replace the Triumph, so that will be a significant improvement.
