Quebec Bill 60 and contract renewal

    Hi,

Tried searching, but did not find anything relating to the subject. I signed a three year contract in may 2009, so I just entered the last 6 months of my contract. This also means that the contract is not subject to bill 60 (I live in Quebec).

I was thinking it's about time I give retentions a call (I'm paying too much and need a new phone, but that's another discussion), but before I renew my contract to another three years, I need to know two things :

1- Does Fido still do contract stacking? Say I renew for another three years, will my contract end in May 2015 or November 2014?
2- Will the "renewed" contract be subject to bill 60? I'm afraid that if I renew, you could argue that it's still the same contract, which was signed before bill 60's effective date, thus resulting in me still being subject to ridiculous ECFs, etc.

    Thanks!

Yes but if you renew your agreement you will be under the new Bill...

The new agreement will restart 1 day after the end of the current one...

New agreement will be under the Bill 60 rules. Penality fees cannot be higher then handset discount.

However the cancellation fee for Data will be a lot higher then in the past (depending of the handset you will get).

    Hope this can help...

Because you signed the agreement back when bill 60 didn't exist, your penalty fees will be exactly what is dictated in that agreement. Bill 60 does not apply to you.

Because you are within the last 6 months of your contract, you can renew early anyways so breaking your contract is completely unnecessary. If you extend your agreement by another 36 months, your agreement will last 42 months total.
