Its backward compatible if your lte device does not have a lte signal then it will fall back to 4g. If you have a non lte phone you can still use a lte sim, just that you don't have access to lte.

In this situation what exactly will one have access to? Assuming that the fall back is to 3G that most people likely still have the equipment for this sounds like a no-brainer just to switch from one 6GB to another and get an LTE device later with no downside, or am I missing something here?

There is no down side since its the same price, only down side i think is it does require you to recommit the data term.

Thanks for that bit of info. I dont have an lte device and i dont know when ill get one, but its nice to know that i can have it available if i get an lte phone.
I have a non lte phone in a non lte market (calgary). Is it possible to sign up for this and use the LTE sim in my phone until the network goes live in my city (by then I should have an LTE phone)?
