I called in twice and spoke to two different CSR who assured me the I was on the $30/6G LTE plan which was added using the SOC code provided earlier.

Does it show on your bill or on your Rogers.com account as 6gb LTE?

No, it doesn't show up as 6GB LTE. It shows up as 6GB Smartphone Data Plan.

    @SamF
As mentioned before, this plan is not a LTE only plan. This is an 6GB offer for smartphones which includes LTE. Many people I know have called up Rogers asking about these SOC codes and LTE is mentioned in the internal Rogers description. Call them up again, don't mention LTE plans, tell them you saw these codes online and ask them to look up the code you want and provide you with a description.

Perfectly stated. The last CSR I spoke to was awear that I was using an iPhone 4S but my plan was ready for any LTE handset I might get at a later date.

So to confirm, that I won't lose my data credit by adding the new 6gb plan (i have a 10$ credit), and it wont extend my contract?

    I have a question,
if you don't have LTE data plan but have a LTE phone, and have an LTE option enable on your phone, does the phone pick up LTE data speed and use it with extra charge? or does the phone just use 3G or 4G and won't pick up LTE speed because you don't have LTE data plan?

    Hope that question makes sense..

You need an LTE plan, LTE SIM and LTE phone.
If you don't have the entire combination, then you'll just use 3G data.

Your contract should not be extended. But the CSR extended it for you, call them up again and they will revert back to the original contract end date. That is what I had to do.

If they take away the $10 credit. Ask to speak with a customer relations representative. They are the ones that deal with credit and discounts. My experience with them is positive. Usually they are very good in giving you back with whatever credit/discount you had before. My advice is don't give up after speaking to one rep. Call again and speak with another customer relations rep.

I have noticed a few people complaining about their data contract getting extended. I personally think that is a good thing since it means I will still have reasonable data for another 3 years. If I am dissatisfied with the service I will gladly pay the ETF if there is a better deal somewhere else. I remember a few people on this site panicking that they would lose their $30/6G plan when the Rogers site was showing an expiry date in big red letters last year.

Switched over today. First rep thanking me for the SOC code so he didn't have to look it up. First rep didn't warn about the auto renew - called back and had it fixed - second rep actually said it should not have renewed like that. The BB one does include tethering. (tested on IP4) Speed seems the same. YMMV... Yadda... Yadda...

Yay - now I am LTE ready but wont get LTE locally for another decade

Can I switch to one of these plans if I own a blackberry? I'm due for an upgrade soon and would like to lock in my plan before doing a HUP

    Heh, reasonable data.

In all likelihood, data will be cheaper in 1 or 2 years time, than today.

Wow, spoken like a true shareholder or employee.

I think that 99.999999999999999999999999% of the remainder of the population would be GLADDER still to not have to pay an ECF.

    Sheesh.

(And BTW, more than just 'better service' can drive a cx away from a carrier - job loss/relocation, or new job that includes cellie service can also cause a cx to desire a new carrier. And really, think about it - if you're so fed up with Rog's crap service, signal or coverage to the point that you're driven to move the service to a new carrier and endure all the concomitant hassle & agro ... do you really think that you'll be happy to pay any sort of penalty to take your neck out of the noose?)

And Rog just converts CP'd plans to M2M at the end of the CP anyway.

And finally, by giving away a 3-yr CP you're taking away from yourself the opportunity to offer that as part of renegotiating at a later date.

Have I pounded enough coffin-nails into that "gladly pay" idea yet? : )

I remember some religious types predicting the end of the world, selling/giving-away all their stuff, and driving around the USA to warn others of the impending end of days last year too, also an unfounded concern.

2 Weeks ago, i called Rogers to change my 6GB data (which i had a $10 credit) to the LTE after 45 mins the CSR & Manager finally added the SOC codes to my account and was told that their wont be any prices changes to my account.

Today, I get my phone bill and noticed that my $10 credit on my data plan has fallen off, so i called Rogers and told them. Talked to the manager as well and they said they cant put that credit back on.

Any suggestions what i should do?
