Using sim from TMo BB to Galaxy S2

I have a Blackberry 8520 on Tmobile and it's an added line from a friend, so my question is can I buy an upgraded phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) and use my sim card from the BB so that my friend does not have to extend his contract for another 2 years? I think the phone is around $519 to upgrade. The blackberry does have a data plan as required by Tmobile. I think the sim card is a 64k version. I looked into the international unlocked version of the phone, but it's the smaller screen and smaller processor. I'd really like to go with the Tmobile version if possible.

Thanks in advance for any advice and information!

It will work fine, no contract extension but your Blackberry data won't work with it.

What are my options as far as data, can I switch data plans? I pay $30 for my current BB data plan. So phone calls and texting should be no problem, but surfing the web and gps functions are out with my current sim card!

You won't pay any extra then, you would just need to have it switched over to Android data.

So when I'm in the Tmobile store buying the phone, just ask them to switch it to the android data plan and everything should be good to go? He won't get any extra charges for this will he?

Thank you very much for your quick repies! I appreciate it!

Yeah it should be fine. Just make sure they don't try to extend the contract. Upgrade at "full retail" and have them switch you over to Android data.
