is it possible to increase internal phone memory? (Mytouch 3G Slide)

Is there any relatively easy way to increase the phones internal memory? Not all apps allow you to install onto the SD card and I have removed all the apps that I can leaving me without many that I want. Even when they are installed onto the SD, they still seem to take up some of the internal memory also. I realize if it is possible, it could be a real task. But can it be done?

Not really. You just have to avoid apps with large memory footprints and use those that can go into the SD.

Apps2SD is an app you should have and it lets you flush app caches once in a while.

There are some ways though to cut down on internal phone memory use. Are you using HTC Friendstream? That tends to create really large contacts files due to higher resolution portrait images it would sync from Facebook. It also creates large caches for Twitter and Facebook streams.

Im using a T-Mobile (HTC) MyTouch 3G Slide. Its not synced with Facebook so none of my contacts really have portraits on their listings. I dont use Twitter on it but I do use the Facebook app.

Speaking of memory, I dont know why but for some reason, my memory is getting used up constantly. I have a cache cleaner that I use and one day Ill be fine on space, then I will be getting low memory notices. Ill run the cleaner and it usually fixes it but eventually it wont. I dont know where this extra "junk" is on the phone that it wont clean. I feel im constantly removing apps to avoid the low memory notices but Im never putting new apps onto it. What else might be filling up the space that cleaners cant get to?

There isn't really anything you can do for internal phone storage. I had an lg optimus and the same thing happened to me. I just avoided those apps that really clogged my internal storage..

Well that's part of my problem. I'm constantly having to remove apps because I keep losing memory and never adding new apps. Ill have the same apps last week as I do now but have to remove something because for some reason ill have a low drive space message. No amount of cache clearing seems to fix it entirely either. I've looked all over trying to find out what else on this phone keeps filling up space and how I would get to it. Have tried several cache cleaners with little differences in them. Recently I even reset my phone entirely and reinstalled all the same apps I had before. In the end, I still had about 40mb left over. Now once again I've had to remove them one by one because of the memory messages I get when I get below 15mb. Its so aggrivating!

I'm real sorry The only thing you can do is start deleting things in the internal that you DONT want. Try deleting text message threads that are unnecessary, Music you don't like, Blurry photos, things like that. Other than that, there's not much you can do. I hope i helped you out a bit...

    Good luck...

Thanks but tried that. Dont have much for music but all music, vids and pics are saved on the SD card as well as any apps that let me move them to that. I feel like moving apps to the SD really doesnt free up much if any space on the main memory either. I just dont understand the memory system of Android...

Sense is a bloat hog. Have you tried using another launcher to see if that might help? In the Google market/play there is ADW (adw-ex is the paid version), Go-Launcher, Zeam (which is stock android and ultra lean) and Miui Home Launcher. You have little to lose trying another launcher, if it doesn't work, uninstall it. This worked miracles with my mytouch4g slide which also got out of memory errors and would soft boot before using a different launcher (in my case, the MiuiHome launcher).
