Samsung has released a software upgrade for the Samsung Admire™ (SCH-R720) which is recommended to be installed. This software will update your Samsung Admire to software version EJ26.

Alright this is what i noticed. i just did the update and i found the steps that samsung themselfs did to annoy us. XD lol basicly the step where they expect you to hold the camara butten and the usb cord for a good two minutes... yeah on my end i was doing it for at lease four or five minutes before finally figuring out you needed to unplug the usb cord then do it then replug it once the warning screen is on. you follow the rest of the directions like it's nothing. so yeah it was easy after that part. anywho. i have my admire fully updated now but basicly what happened was it stripped the phone of any and everything that made it metro pcs. XD so all that bloatware, kiss goodbye. it's also a bad thing since i can't quite get into the andorid market. since metro's bloatware is gone can't really go into it's app store. XD lawl. anywho i got phone back active so i can call out, i get texts also. so that's a plus but i may have to take it up to metro and have them tinker with it since it doesn't show a network, other then "home" and all my info from metro is there, i even did the *228 and that went right to metro. so maybe it's just the bloatware and the data being werid.

I found out what the update did.
According to Samsung this update Fixes:
1. Handset powercycle issues while in idle state
2. New Mobile AP (aka Mobile Hot spot)
It enable other devices to connect to internet via 3G network of your phone
3. other internal fixes

that's pretty awesome. i haven't tried it yet. but one thing i'm still having a problem with is my phone can't seem to connect to the andorid market. so i'm kinda sol untill i take it to metro sometime in the morning or something. i can connect to the internet and everything just find but when it comes to connecting and using the marketplace i can't. could anyone help.. i rather not spend money if i could fix it myself, i even redownloaded the app online then installed the latest version and i'm still getting the "server error" message before it closes itself out.

After the update most of the MetroPCS apps ( sometimes called bloatware on this form) was gone.
@ metro App Store also deleted.
Android Market Does not work. Attention A server error has occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen. with 2 buttons Retry and Cancel.
Photos and media Deleted
Contacts the same
Adobe Flash 11: the same (my phone was rooted)
Rooted access: Does not work
Email: Does not work.
Voice, text: working the same
Data: ?
Something must be wrong with the data because reinstalled Metro Navigator version 4.9and this happens:
Authorizing subscription Done
Downloading resources Done , Downloading images Done
ERROR: Could not process your request. Please try again.
Where's the dialtone?
Please Do Not Do This!!!! This Update Is For The Generic Version Of The Admire Not The Metro Admire. If You Update To It, It Will Delete All Of Ur Metro PCS Info And The Phone Won't Work Properly!!!! A Generic Version It's Like An Unlocked Phone!!!!

ON AUG 1, 2012 SAMSUNG and METROPCS release a update for the MetroPCS Samsung Admire
I found this update on Metropcs.com website today.

Back Up Your Information Before Software Update
This update will delete all personal data on the device and all settings will be reset to default. This includes applications, contacts, email, messages, wallpaper and home screen settings.
This looks like an OFFICAL update for MetroPCS samsung admires. Would I update to this version just yet? My answer is NO. More information I think is needed as there is no root around for admire versions 2.3.6. but I am not sure. I am sure someone else has better knowledge of this.

Yea it had a hotspot app. It is hidden in the settings. I have since updated my phone to this release and lost the option.Also root is a no go so far. People on Android Forums are looking into the issue...

Mobile AP is the name of the function. I am not sure if its a system setting or an actually an app (with .apk).
