Tower upgrade site: Post your improved "Network Vision" 3G speeds here! (2Mbit+ club)
Hey found a new sprint site that shows upgrades to towers in the last 6 months and the next 6 plus shows the tower location. Go to network.sprint.com very cool
Nice. It seems like they're categorized in three categories of upgrades. Most towers list an upgrade around my area, some with three types, like the following tower:
1 voice upgrade
You're more likely to get clearer calls with fewer dropped connections. 1 data capacity upgrade
You're more likely to get a fast data connection, even when many people are connecting at the same time. 2 data speed upgrades
You're more likely to get faster consistent data speeds for uploads, downloads and web surfing on your mobile device.
So I'm guessing data capacity = new data carrier; speed upgrade = upgraded/additional data connection; voice upgrade = ???
The vast majority of Sprint towers in my area show upgrades within the next 6 months, hopefully that improves their data issue to keep them competitive and gaining customers.
Excellent find! Thanks. This proves my point about how many data upgrades are being done. All the cell sites near me show new data upgrades in the past 6 months (as I already knew).
WOW!! Awesome find. Nice to see another data upgrade coming to some areas that have severe data issues. But yet some others that have borked data there is nothing planned.
EDIT: I noticed they are missing a few towers that have been there for years though. I see why some areas have awesome coverage and some have so-so coverage. Tower density in some small towns trump other large towns.
EDIT2: The towers are not missing, they just haven't done anything to them in the past 6 months if the are not on the map.

this is cool! they've been doing tons of work in my area, which is good to see because they were probably competing with t-mobile for the worst carrier here (sprint has the least spectrum here, so they have an excuse. t-mobile just seems lazy by putting "4G" on random towers so there's EDGE pockets everywhere). i hope other companies start doing this.
if you pick NYC and zoom out a little, it's pretty interesting to see how many towers/antennas they have.
also the site shows they have antennas on the tower at our university, but one of my friends has an evo shift 4G and he barely gets a signal indoors ~2500 feet away. i checked the signal strength and it was at -103 dBm. wonder what's up with that.

I'd check it with another Sprint phone, unless the building is a nuclear fall out shelter you should get a signal indoors that close.
Yea there are some towers missing, even in the NYC area. Actually, the tower that serves my house, which also serves a HUGH area isn't on it. That must means it has not gotten an upgrade in the last 6 months, nor will it in the next 6.
Also, watch out for some inaccurate tower markers. Sprint has taken the same incorrect coordinates for some towers in this region and put them on this map as well. I assure you, there is no tower in the river.
The tower locations for my area all appear to be accurately placed on the map.
This tool wasn't meant to show all of the cell site locations that Sprint has. Only the ones that have received upgrades or are planned to be getting them. But I'm guessing that if an entirely new site is coming up in the next 6 months it will also be placed on the map as a future voice upgrade. But not sure on that.
All the ones I checked have been spot on. Even helped me confirm some panels on a billboard in lake charles. Two towers within a stones throw of each other. Figured sprint would pull that one after us unwired sold to them. The billboard was right next to us unwired's main office.
