    Good H20 Alternatives

As so many people are getting wet from H20, I would recommend a few alternatives.
Already posted but still eligibile are Red Pocket and Jolt Mobile, both fellow Att mvnos with similar plans. They are superior to H20 in regards to CS, straight fowardness and stability. I recommend them first.

For Talk/text users only with no intl inclinations, Air Voice and Pure Prepaid work at the same $40 pricepoint as H20. US CS all around.

All allow your Att or unlocked gsm phone on their network.

H20 is at the bottom of my Att mvno list at this moment because of their disastrous execution of their plans.
I suspect most prepaid companies are like that though. May just be a phase.

Page Plus, Boost iden, Virgin Mobile, Simple Mobile all went through it.

We'll see if H20 pulls out of it.

Till then , there's other carriers...

So what is preferred? Jolt or Red Pocket?

Jolt has better customer service I think, they answer very fast and they are very helpful.

Red Pocket, which I currently have take a while to answer and i'm not so into the help from the Asian woman who are csrs. I prefer the online chat, very helpful.

Red Pocket has been consistent with my data speeds and calls. None were ever dropped so far online the dreaded H2O.

I prefer Jolt followed by Red Pocket. If Air Voice had similar $50/60 plans to RP/JM, I'd put them ahead of Red Pocket. I have a bias towards customer service if all else is equal or close to it...

I don't have any experience with Jolt but I know Red Pocket is good. I've never had to wait more than 3 mins when calling and had good service from them. Maybe it's just me but after I call to get setup as long as there are no problems, I have no need to call again. I like good customer service too but as long as I'm happy with my phone service I feel I've received it. I've only called them 3 times and that was just cause I was anxious to get ported to them. I doubt I'll call again unless there is a problem. In my 15 years of using a cellphone I can count on both hands the amount of times I've had to call into to CS...... With H2O it would take the amount of hands in my whole community to count the times I had to place a call to them, smh.

Thank you for this thread. I have been looking for a carrier that I can bring my Iphone 3g over to and thought H20 was the only one. Now I am looking into Red Pocket and Jolt sine they have better reviews and since I don't need to much data (thank goodness for wifi)

Just a quick question though, do I need to unlock my phone before I can use red pocket or jolt?

    Unlocking is not necessary.
What the government gives to one, it must take from another.

While painpour is correct that you do not have to unlock it, I still think you need to jailbreak it to edit the settings for data and mms.

You do not need to jailbreak an iPhone to get data working on H2O. Just go to their configure page and follow the directions. I do not know about Jolt or Red Pocket.

    Jailbreaking is required for mms.

Btw, H20 is changing their prices. Lowering some ($40 and $50 plan ) and changing others starting tomorrow and early 2012.

We'll see if their rival/sister Att mvnos play catchup soon.

I think sometimes paying $5 extra a month for peace of mind beats the "savings" based on what I've seen with them.

My fear for H20 is if they have such crappy CS already, how bad will cutting prices affect that quality level?

Well since we are on the subject, to store the information for those thinking about porting, what details are used for posting? So far I have read the following based upon HF research. Is this correct?

    Account Number: Phone Number
Account PIN: Last 4 of the Phone Number
Account Name: Name you used to create account.
    Address: Does not matter.

I just gave my cell number and pin was last 4 digits of cell phone number.
It ported in like a few hours from H2O to Red Pocket.

Porting to Verzion and it has been 4 hours so far and nothing. Talked to H2O and they said all they could do was create aticket and said that the ticket for the port would be responded to within 24-48 hours. Any one else have this issue or tips to speed it up?
