I know you're happy with the Edge speed on your iphone 3G, but just to make sure you know, you can get 3G speed at straighttalk for $5 more.

You can use any App you want if you jailbreak your iPhone. If you're using a Gevey sim tray for the Simple Mobile sim to work then you can't get Siri because that will take off the unlock.

If it's a factory unlock iPhone 4 then you can update the iOS and not worry about losing your unlock, but in that case you will lose your jailbreak and mms won't work because Cydia won't be there.

Why don't you port your # over to Straight Talk and just use the iPhone on the network it was made for. Not to offend anyone, but any person who uses an iPhone 3 or 4 on Simple Mobile is braindead...it's like going to buy a Ferrari and then driving it in your backyard for a few feet rather than take it out in the highway! Some areas have only 3G towers and not EDGE towers so you're not taking full advantage of the T-Mobile network with the iPhone...there are so many options for AT&T prepaid and iPhone that it doesn't make any sense to use an iPhone on T-Mobile/Simple Mobile. I see idiots walking around with an iPhone on T-Mobile and I just laugh at how they are scared to leave T-Mobile because it's the network they are used to. Considering the cost on T-Mobile direct is $50, how can one justify using an iPhone on that network...some have it on postpaid - it's just ridiculous!

I definitely just learned something here. So theoretically, can I simply buy an iPhone 4s with At&T and just pop in a StraightTalk microSIM? It seems like information with a value of this magnitude this would DRAMATICALLY reduce interest in AT&T?

Att will still be making money no matter what, just at a wholesale rather then retail rate. But this time they don't have to put a penny into advertising, customer /tech support etc. They just sale the data/mms/talk/text to the mvno and collect the checks. Less money but less effort. They still get paid.

The only real way to avoid the big 4 (mostly) is to get a local regional carrier and even most of them rely on the big 4 for roaming purposes.

Make sure the SIM card is the right size, some use microSIMs.

I would think the difference is the company you choose to do business with. There are definately choices out there for service providers, but lets be realistic righ now it is all cell phone service and with the move to WiMax anyhow other factors matter too when choosing a provider.

Try programming the SMSC address on the device, you will have to call your service provider or research to get it stands for the Short Message Service Center. SMS is pretty easy to fix. It could also be that the phone doesn't know its own number. Operators can send both of these types of info to the SIM card through OTA tools, most importantly the MSISDN to SIM for phone identity.

Yes you can just simply pop the Straight Talk Micro Sim into an iPhone 4s from AT&T and it will work for you without any problems and no need to unlock. The MMS requires a jailbreak though, but data will work easily by following the iPhone data link for mvno's...it's listed on most mvno's websites or you can just youtube how to get there, I forgot the URL for it.

If you plan to use an iPhone try to use a carrier under ATT umbrella, we can recommend $60 Unlimited by SkyView Wireless.
