I saw four SH-01Bs last night alone. I see many, many keitai each day. People think I am looking at them... oh no... I am looking at your phone

Anyone can advice what is restricting the 3g to be used in other countries? Is it a software lock? e.g. malaysia has all 3 900mhz,1800mhz and 2100mhz and my assumptions is that 3g will work. Anyone knows whats the reason?

It's a limitation of the hypersim unlock method. I think the F-02D can be factory unlocked though so 3G will work just fine.

The main point of having 3G (internet access) won't work though, as you cannot edit the APN settings.

I have gathered some information but yet to be clarified, the specific band of UMTS frequency that FOMA uses may not be compatible and also the sim cards profile in each region is different.

Thus you see some people did get the 3g working in some countries' network. It does say 3G 2100mhz or 800mhz but in country the allocation of each frequency is different from the other. Japan UMTS(3G) has a specific frequency that most GSM network do not follow.

    More updates later....

May I ask a stupid question. Is this model factory unlocked? No need to attached hypersim?

Not really factory unlocked, but this model can be software unlocked by Docomo. Most resellers sell them unlocked already. If the model wasn't unlocked when shipped, though, you'll still have to use a hypersim.
