I hope you get a good one! I can honestly say that the only "problem" I've ever had with mine is the slow GPS. How often do I need that?

I had the wifi restart issue, the weird lines flashing after sleep & battery wouldn't charge after depleted. I never knew if the gps was buggy. I don't use it much either. I really like the phone so I'll definitely give it another shot when I can.

The phone is still functioning LIKE NEW! Of course, I do have slow GPS lock from time to time.

Overall, the Triumph has been everything I'd hoped it would be. I'm jealous of those who got it for $140 on sale!!

The Triumph isn't nearly as bad as some have made it out to be. I think the product suffered from a great deal of pre-release hype, so some of those quality control issues became overly magnified upon release.

I also obtained mine in late July, and while it's not perfect (honestly, no pre-paid phone is) the Triumph is significantly better than either the Intercept or Optimus when all factors are taken into consideration. The screen is larger and more detailed, the processor runs like a champ, the HDMI-out and additional internal memory is handy. Aside from its slow lock on GPS, the Triumph is a vast improvement for pre-paid Android on Virgin Mobile.

When the Optimus Slider was released, I was tempted to ditch the Triumph. However, going back to a smaller screen and slower processor would be too much sacrifice for a QWERTY and faster GPS response. Even with its minor faults, the Triumph makes having a $25/month cell phone bill all that more valuable to me.

I think I might actually give the Triumph another try. I only had one & just returned it. Since I'm back with VM, it's the only phone with a screen over 3.2". My eyesight is getting worse so a larger screen really helps. Not to mention the ease of texting, etc.

Get the SwiftKey X keyboard if you plan on doing heavy texting. The word prediction with that interface is mind-blowing. I can send off a lengthy text and only have to press about 50% of the keys before SwiftKey's word prediction figures it all out.

I used to swear by Swype for texting, but now SwiftKey X is the "must have" for a QWERTY-less device.

GPS lock is slow, but I never use it, I've never seen a GPS worth a damn on any cell phone, I have a real GPS (Garmin Nuvi) for when I need it.

I love the Triumph. Best bang for the buck there is. But today, I had my phone on the couch when it suddenly started making noise. And it wasn't the speaker... It was the HDMI port shorting out. Then it started smoking a bit. After a minute it stopped and all is "well". Running CM7 so no HDMI, but who knows.. it might be dead now.

On that note, anyone do NBA league pass for android? How (un)acceptable is the HDMI output? As long as it's still leagues better than the illegal streams online, I'm game. It's only $30 or $40 I believe. Would obviously mean going back to stock, but oh well.

Somebody somewhere said the GPS in the Triumph sucks by design... possibly that it lacked some sort of thing inside it (A-GPS?). It's strange Motorola would leave out a small thing that would make their product much better, but being aware of that you might now understand that every Triumph GPS is bound to suck, and there is no fix (besides avoiding them of course).

Multitasking throws off even the best phone (except with Google's voice navigation) so I use GPSFix to not constantly lose my way.

The GPS on the Optimus V was very nice. It locked almost instantly and was very reliable. The Triumph has been a disappointing downgrade in that particular department.

I'm thinking about getting because I'm so sick of 3.2 inch screens. So exactly how long does it take the GPS to lock on. And is the other problems pretty much settled with custom Roms?

I picked on up yesterday and it is definitely worth it. The overall speed, increased memory, better cameras and larger screen make it that much better than the optimus. I can say much on the gps since I have yet to have tested it.

With GPSFix it takes ~half a minute for me to lock onto it. I have CyanogenMod installed (the one that HDMI and portrait videos don't work on, but sliding away notifications doesn't crash), and it might be helping some. It also looks really sexy too, though.

Custom recovery is very easy; installing it is as easy as plugging your phone into the computer and dragging a file there. Rooting can be done with GingerBreak. CYanogenMod looks sexy on that screen with its virtually invisible pixels (eat that, iPhone).

Deals are generally at RadioShack, it seems. It's been $220 or thereabouts but check the Deals thread.

I got my Triumph a couple of days before it was released. Got my sister one as well. We both signed up under the $25/month plan. I had the OG droid before from Verizon and was tired of paying $90/month.

It's been about 6-7 months since I've been using this phone. All I have to say is that this has been the worst Android experience for me. This phone is utterly junk. Can't believe a company like Motorola would even put their name on it. Call me a "pumper" turned "hater'. The OG Droid (and I think every other Android phone on the market) outperforms the Triumph by a long shot. Both my sister and I are just fed up. The only saving grace is knowing we're paying $25/month. For that price, it's worth it. But don't ever believe this phone stands up to any true smartphone experience. And since both my sister and I have the same issues, this isn't just a one phone defect.

The GPS is absolutely useless. Yes, I've tried all the fixes and none work. Bluetooth connectivity is a joke. Both to my Jawbone and my Alpine (here is a video of how well the OG Droid's bluetooth worked in my car):

With the Triumph, I gotta constantly pull over and tinker with the Bluetooth as it looses connection.

Wifi sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I may need to just restart Wifi, or if it doesn't work, reboot the phone. Numerous times, 3G drops for no reason. Gotta restart data services or reboot the phone. At least several times a week, I see there is no reception in a good reception area. Reboot the phone and find I've missed several calls.

I follow the Motorola message boards and it seems like Motorola has acknowledged some of these issues. Yet they have no fix on the horizon. And Virgin Mobile couldn't care less. Again, the only saving grace is that I'm paying $25/month for it. I can afford $90/month and go back to a real phone on Verizon, but I think it's a ripoff. I'm not a big phone or data user, but I want it to work when I need it. So I just put up with it. I've just lost a lot of faith in the name "Motorola".

So call me a hater. I gave this phone every chance I could. I really believed in it. What I thought as a bargain has turned out to be "you get what you pay for". If I really had to rely on a phone and it's data connection, I would leave this phone. I'm just a casual user.
