The ball is now in Verizons court and it's something no one seems to know how Verizon will respond to this. If they will close the loophole and allow those that already got it to keep it, if they will revert people back to their tiered data plans, or if they will just ignore it awhile longer then close it. No one seems to really have an answer.

This loophole has actually been available for months. But few knew about it. So it likely just slipped under the radar since the number of those doing this were few and far between. However the public articles about it now starting to appear may force Verizons hand. Especially if the number of people doing this ramps up.

The responses from CSR's are all over the board. Some say it's a promo. Some say it's only for those that have grandfathered unlimited data. Some say it's something that just has to be asked for and so on. No one seems to be on the same page.

My suggestion is if you're gonna do this do it, and do it quick. If there is anyone here with behind the scenes knowledge of this and what you think Verizons actions will be in regard to this, feel free to contribute.
Unless they fix their back office when the MHS is added, then it will end. When adding MHS it seems to trigger automatic unlimited data.

A couple days ago I was helping a guy at work do this. I was right there with him when he was on the phone with cs and he had speaker on.

When he asked to add the MHS the rep put him on hold and when she came back she said it would put him on a 6GB tiered plan by adding MHS. I slashed my throat with my finger as a sign to him to stop, he told rep he had to think about it.

He called again as soon as he hung up and got another rep. This rep added MHS in a matter of seconds, no putting him on hold. He was on the phone no more than a minute.

He went online and he had unlimited data and MHS. Then I had him call cs and tell them he couldn't get into his account because he was having internet problems and wanted to see what plans he had. The rep told him he had unltd data and MHS.

My wife's Iphone 4S shipped today so I'm hoping this loophole will hold up a few more days. We're both currently using dumb phone's so it won't help any to call until we get the Iphone activated.

It has been said that it works with LTE devices. It might work with 3G device?

People should start posting only if they couldn't get the rep to add MHS after a certain amount of tries, which means they are addressing the loophole.

Also people should start posting if the rep added the MHS but unlimited data hasn't been showing in their account, which means they are addressing the loophole.

Also start posting if unlimited data was removed after you removed MHS, which means they are addressing the loophole.

According to whitetiger's post (post #205) it can be done with a 3G device although it sounds like it may be more difficult to get it on a 3G device.

I myself haven't tried that but some have reported success doing it that way. As well that was a copy and paste from the website I linked to.

Is it possible VZW could be letting this slide to get more customers from other carriers?

On the topic of this thread, since you seem to love to steer us off-topic, is that i think verizon is ignoring this loophole, because the people who are using it are signing up for a sixty dollar per month data plan. Why bother closing it for a new network with tons of capacity when you're getting that kind of dough?

I can confirm that it works with 3G devices as I just did it on the first try on my Xperia Play using the instruction that were recently posted that are being posted on every cellphone news blog. Now I'm figuring should I upgrade at full price to a 4G phone or should I wait for the LTE Xperia Play that supposed to come to Verizon?

Wouldn't you be grandfathered into unlimited data anyway?

You're not confident that you won't be grandfathered from 3G unltd to LTE unltd I assume?

Although you can now, there could be an 'out' for VZW not to grandfather because of a different device/device technology. I see your point.

Actually I was speculating on whether or should get a 4G device now or save my money for the LTE Xplay as there's no need to have extra devices that I don't need; nothing special.

I'm not worried about being grandfathered to when I get a 4G phone because Verizon doesn't have a problem doing that as evidenced by the lack of difference in 3G/4G data plans.
