Call it what you want, but it's at Verizon choice if they are to let people keep this or not. Has there been any statement saying its going to be removed?

The company-wide communications I did see were as follows:
    1) Specifically about putting the unlimited codes back into the system so front-line reps could quickly and easily fix errors where unlimited plans had fallen off or needed to be modified for whatever reason (biggest example - moving from corp unlimited $44.99 to consumer unlimited $29.99 and vice-versa).
    2) Making sure that you qualified that the line you were handling was supposed to have an unlimited package (i.e. it had been on the account since before 7/7/11 etc) as lines started after that date were not supposed to have it.
    3) Even though the unlimited codes were in the system, they WERE NOT to be used a save tool.

Now - given those were all documents posted in Infomanager and backed up with daily e-mails that point you to Infomanager articles... Promotion? Not so much.

Moot point now anyway given it's been closed.
AK1sdr and WhiteTigerGrowl....thank you for your most informative and mature discussion about this event. You both are a wealth of information and you both bring up extremely valid points.

From my observations, it doesn't look like Verizon cares about who already got through, but they are/have put an end to it. It also seems like either the reps disregarded the "Infomanager" or it just wasn't a priority at the time. My best guess again is that it would be too expensive for Verizon to sift thorough all their users (or create a program to do so), in order to make any changes. It looks like they are moving forward.

One rep told me that I would have to call in to have the MHS removed and then I would be reverted back to my tiered program. I checked with a friend and there is no such documented words on my account. Yet, another rep told me recently that no matter how I got it, that I have it (unlimited data) now and that I could add/subtract it off of my account any time I wanted to in order to save some money (like when on vacation or at a location that has internet access, etc).

Lots of stories, points of views, and guesses, but again, thank you both for the informative discussion.

If they don't let people keep it, it will make them look bad from a marketing point.

It wasn't marketed publicly after July so any negative effect would be minimal.

A script could be used to revert people back. However I do not believe they will. Because the possibility is there people with legit plans could be accidentally booted off while trying to revert those that used this. Now that would be an issue. I agree with Duckmeister Verizon likely has moved on and those that have it are golden.

My old account had a Droid 1 with the Unlimited Data $29.99/month plan.

When I upgraded (in a Verizon store) to the Galaxy Nexus, they kept the Unlimited Data plan . Then, I told them my company requires me to have Feature Code 76153 in order to be reimbursed for work-related data. The guy was shocked that I knew about this (as he likely didn't) - he said "this has got to be the ONLY way to get unlimited data AND unlimited hotspot, lucky you!"

Edit: So now I have unlimited data, and unlimited hotspot on 4G LTE !!!!!

Although Unlimited really means 5GB with a reduced overage fee, as it had been in the past. This even shows up in the GNex's Data Meter page in settings.

Why is there a fee when you go over 5gb of data on your unlimited plan?

That's something that the guy that said that would have to answer.

No biggie. Unlimited hotspot is still available to anyone with a 4g device who already has unlimited data. This is nothing new and no loophole or anything special.

As far as the 5gb that's not true. Verizon never has limited their unlimited data plans on phones. The unlimited hotspot is no different. People always falsely assumed that because broadband cards were capped at 5gb.

I want to buy a nexus and I currently have the 2gb mhs with unlimited data. Would I have to call in to get the unlimited mhs?

    Wirelessly posted (Tour: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.4; en-us; ADR6400L 4G Build/GRJ22) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Congrats! You should be able to get unlimited mobile hotspot if you now have unlimited phone data.
