    Seriously.

Just... FFS... [and this is me being frustrated at my co-workers now] how hard is it to take the extra minute or two to research and make sure you get the correct answer? (don't answer - it's a rhetorical question)
I was on the phone with your co-worker for over 30 minutes as she put me on hold numerous times to go and research so hopefully the call center she works at has at least 1 person that can FOG A MIRROR.

So they're getting you to pay $60/mo for unlimited data and hotspot on their nice, fat, 10mhz chunk of greenfield spectrum that almost no one is using... and who's the sucker? Nice find for those that want it though. I still don't understand why Verizon didn't throw the customer a bone when they went metered, it really makes no sense. I would be bitter if I had gotten a Verizon smartphone after the metering went in place, on AT&T it's a benefit to me since I end up saving $5/mo.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.

Saving that money is nice. But again it all depends on the person and where they go and what they do. Some people can justify the extra cost for what they do and where they go. Voice coverage is pretty close with both, but for those that use data and want faster speeds with LTE, Verizon right now is the place to go since it does have a much larger LTE footprint. But AT&T is no slouch either where they do have 3G and LTE.

AT&T lately seems to be a bit more hardcore about throttling even on LTE for those with Unlimited Data plans. Some people are getting notices once they break the 2GB barrier and some are up to 10GB with no problems. Likely market or area or possibly even tower based.

LTE is available in far more Verizon markets and growing fast and they at this point at least aren't as hardcore about throttling especially on LTE. But when they do, they punish you good. Whereas with AT&T it's only until the end of that billing cycle.

However at the moment at least, both AT&T and Verizon have Unlimited Data loopholes. If that's what you want to call them. You know that they both have to know about them but don't seem in a hurry to fix it. It's one of those obviously unadvertised things that if you ask, you may just get it. But you have to ask first.

I see the value in the Unlimited 4G Hotspot. Even though it does cost more.

And AT&T doesn't offer unlimited hotspot. They charge you an extra $30 for the MHS and you only get an additional 2 GB.

Agreed...good advice. The $30 is fair for unlimited 4G, esp when you're getting 30mbps down!
Still looking for the best deal in wireless!

    1. AT&T is a slouch in many markets.

    2. Verizon DOESN'T throttle ANY LTE handsets, they clearly state they don't on their website. They only throttle 3G user's after 2GB, and only on congested towers. Of course if you're using a huge amount of data anyways on Verizon you are going to want a 4G handset.

I was just joking because people were shocked Verizon wasn't patching the hole: I think if anything, they're like "oh yeah, $60/mo. on greenfield spectrum that's not congested. CA-CHING!!!".

That's all true, my counterpoint is that AT&T has 3x faster data. LTE is starting to become a force on Verizon, but it is still pretty location-dependent. It's a non-factor on AT&T for a while. Depends on where you live, work, and play.

I had it for $10/mo on my unlocked Nokia. That, or you could get the unlimited data through the iPhone loophole and use a hacked Android phone or Gnex to get it...

Me personally I do not mind paying the $60/mo. because it is the only internet access that is available to me other than dial up, due to my remote location.

I use a lot of data in my because I mainly work from my home and have never been throttled probably because I am just one person on this remote site.

If a person is going to be paying $50 a month for (5) or 10GB anyways, they may as well pay the extra $10 for the hotspot especially if they get a discount from their employer. A person may not need it now. But things can change. Now someone may not have a need for it. (I know I don't.) But if you are planning on getting a laptop or other wi-fi capable device in the near future it would be a great benefit since it's Unlimited Hotspot data and not tiered and would likely pay for itself in no time. On 3G it may not be the best. But if you have 4G...yeah it would likely pay for itself in no time. Would you rather pay $20 for 2GB or $10 more for unlimited?

IMO while it still may not apply to everyone I still think this is a great deal and value. Because you know this won't be forever and will be very hard to come by in the near future.

Check into Millenicom because they resell Verizon and their advanced 3G plan uses Verizon towers but for 60 you get 20GB..

So to take advantage of this, do you need to pay an additional $30 per month, in addition to the $30 data fee?

Yes, the unlimited mobile hotspot feature is $30 plus unlimited data is another $30.

Yes and no. You need it to get on the Unlimited Data plan. And it has to be a 4G phone. It will not work with a 3G phone. (Although I have seen a few people claim they were still able to get it anyways through other means.)

No, as I have seen elsewhere you do not need to keep it. You can always get rid of it from your online account. But it's recommended to hold onto it for at least a month. I've seen a few people say they ditched it almost right away after adding it, and were reverted back to their tiered data plan within a week or so of removing it. HOWEVER most that have ditched it, still seem to have kept the Unlimited Data just fine. It's possible those few people were either audited or accidentally did something themselves to lose it. Which is why it's recommended to hold onto it for at least a month.

I've seen a few people mention that reps have told them to hold onto it too. But it still appears at this time it's still not a necessity to have it to keep the Unlimited Data. Until there are reports of people doing this then being reverted back to their previous data plan, IMO I don't think you need to keep the Mobile Hotspot to keep the Unlimited Data.

Also, here is the actual plan code the Verizon rep uses to add 4g unlimited MHS. Plan code #76153 — $30 Unlimited 4G Mobile Hotspot. I would still ask for the 4g Unlimited MHS first and if they give you trouble tell them you were told the plan code is 76153. Hope this helps and cuts down on the amount of calls some people have to make. (Courtesy of XDA)

And remember, for some people this make take up to several tries to get.

Wait... you have LTE out there, or are you using it on EVDO Rev. A? Pretty soon that new Wildblue satellite will be up with 12mbps service. Hopefully they will cut the latency down to the approx 240ms round trip that is possible based on the satellite distances.

So if you try this, would you be paying $30 for the original data plan you had plus $30 for the Hotspot?? And from what people are saying, then later you could drop the hotspot and keep the unlimited data??

Can you pretty much always get this if you try enough times?
