Why keep it when you don't need it. LOL you can add it back at any time.

It may not last forever. One time you may get rid of it thinking it'll be there later, then when you go back to add it 'poof' it's gone. In all likelihood one of the best ways to close the loophole is to get rid of the Unlimited 4G data and keep the Hotspot data tiered.

Why the he'll would you get rid of it? That would probably be the stupidest thing you could do plan wise.

Mostly everyone here who got the unlimited this way removed the hotspot feature because for some we don't USE that. Or at least rarely. There is no need for it and it's not stupid. Why waste $30 extra a month on something you don't need when the unlimited stays without it.

Maybe. But you'd probably spend a lot more money paying for the hotspot every month, than it would end up costing you in overage charges if it was no longer available when you finally tried to add it (assuming you ended up using more data than the tiered hotspot plan includes).

I disagree about that being the easiest way to close the loophole too. They could easily put a simple script on their backend systems that automatically checks the date. They know unlimited data was no longer available on X date. So they could see what date you got unlimited data, and they would know if unlimited is valid on any given account. And the system could do this automatically with a simple script.

Right now they appear to be relying on the rep to do this manually. And in most cases this seems to be working as 4 out of 5 reps on the phone are refusing to add it. However, if they want it to be 100% effective, the easiest way would be to have a simple script applied to their backend systems. It would be cheap, easy, and 100% effective. And they could also revert all the accounts that got through the loophole back to tiered plans if they wanted to using the same script.

Hopefully they won't do anything like this, but Verizon certainly has the means to do it if they want to.

Funny you should mention back end scripts...

There's an update going in on the billing system in the next few days that will close this loophole.

They can close it if they want. Just don't remove it from people that already added it.

    Simple.

When I logged into systems this morning, billing system had a "new update coming - here's what's changing".

One of the changes has to do with how the system is going to handle the unlimited data sfo's.

In short: if the account has not had the code on it in the last 30 days (which basically allows us to fix genuine mistakes), the system won't show the code as available at all.

So brand new lines of service are going to be tiered only, no loophole possible because there's obviously no possible way they'll have had unlimited in the last 30 days.

Interesting. I have yet to see anyone else have something like this.

I'm confused. What does this mean exactly for those that did the loophole say a few months ago vs those that do it in the past 30 days.

The following post contains speculation - please take with a grain of salt:

I don't think it's going to do anything for people who have already used the loophole and have the unlimited sfo on their account.

What it's going to prevent is people don't already have unlimited from being able to ask for the $30 4g hotspot feature since i doubt that code will show up anywhere it's not supposed to now.

You talk about this like you work for VZW or something. Is that the case? Also what does "sfo" mean?
