Has anyone gotten Skype for Android to work on an XT300 (spice)?
Whatever Skype version I try, the "microphone" is disabled, voice is incoming only. This is not a case of WiFi router or firewall issue. When calling the Skype Echo Test number, the microphone is crossed-out.
I have read dozens of such complaints on other forums and not one instance where someone has solved this issue.
I have also posted about this issue and received no replies. However, I've called 3 vendors recently:
1. Skype says there is no known problem with the Spice XT300.
2. Motorola's Android group said it's probably 2.1, and they're planning a Mobilicity 2.2 release sometime in 2012.
3. Mobilicity says they know nothing about a 2.2 upgrade from Motorola, and they don't support Skype anyway because it clogs their network.
Since I use the Spice on Tmo's 3G, I'd really love to have this fixed, or some definitive answer.
Yes, 2.2 would be lovely, but Mobilicity does not sell the Spice XT300 any more, so I won't hold my breath. As far as Skype is concerned, it is lovely when I'm out of the city and am using WiFii for connections. Mobilicity data is too slow for me to want to use it in town on their radio, that's for sure!
