    Galaxy Note OR iPhone 4S

Which one would you pick? I don't really care about storage space on either phones.

Is Galaxy Note available now?? I am leaning toward the Note now, after struggling between GN and GS2. I read it's going to be avail in Q1 but not sure which carrier would have it...

For the Note, it's probably worth waiting for the LTE version: http://www.theverge.com/2012/1/9/269...unced-for-at-t

Of course, the same could be said about all of the other faux-4G handsets on the market right now, such as the iPhone 4S, Galaxy Nexus, RAZR, etc.

The LTE Note only uses a 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual core, which is not exactly faster than a 1.2GHz Exynos. The GSM HSPA+ Note --- the one with the center square button instead of the four bottom buttons --- comes with a 1.4GHz Exynos that blitzes even the Galaxy S2 in benchmarks, like 4000 to 5000 ranges in Quadrant.

I concur. (expect for benchmarks which are of little use) If you are going to get a NOTE get the International version. Upgrade for an iPhone and sell it.

There are numerous hardware and SW reasons I prefer the Android

No need for any SW to transfer files Its just a USB Stick to any Computer
Transfer any file via BT to any phone that accepts the same
INTERCHANGEABLE batteries. Although the Note has better battery life than the SGS II
Apps are not censored and can be had from numerous sources.
Very easily rooted to do what you want down to the file level Many interfaces available for your needs and tastes.
Google centric which for people who use Google Apps is great. 20GB free storage
Web browser has Flash as an option.
You can connect a USB Drive to the device and transfer files.
Has a normal USB port no need for Proprietary cables.
The International version has an FM radio which is a nice addition

I like the idea of an OPEN system to use as I prefer on all levels as opposed to Apple Control over everything. But I like tweaking and flexibility over simplicity and ease.

That said the ATT version is not the same and most of the better Customization are generated and supported by a world wide developer community.

Having used both (I was at CES and tried the LTE version): iPhone 4S.

The Galaxy Note just feels too big to me, and I own a Galaxy Nexus, so it's not like I always skew towards tiny phones. It's wide. More importantly, it's hard to get excited about it. It's a larger Galaxy S II with a higher res screen and LTE if you go for the North American carrier version. The S Pen I had a hard time seeing any use for while trying it.

Is the iPhone 4S a bit small in the modern world? Yes, but it's better than going too big. Plus, it feels faster than the Galaxy Note (and often is) and has a noticeably better camera. Also, what's surprising about the iPhone: it actually seems to be as fast as the Galaxy Nexus on HSPA+ despite having a slightly slower radio. Plenty fast and worth the battery savings over what the Note is likely to do.

Thanks for your feedback from first-hand experience, Aurelian. I would be curious to see a similar comparison when Ice Cream Sandwich becomes available for the Note. Its user interface improvements are supposed to be substantial. I can't see shelling out hundreds of dollars for any Android phone that doesn't have this software available. Frankly, I can't see shelling out hundreds for any phone that lacks LTE either, but if the latest iPhone works that well, more power to Apple.

Nice! How have you been liking it vs having been on the iphone 4s for a bit?

I take it your still wanting to get the Note means the Nexus' screen isn't big enough for you? I thought about getting the Note myself, but I'm very happy with the Galaxy Nexus.

I am into big screens but still wanted to give iphone 4S a shot. I used to use iphone 3GS back in the days and used to love it. But ever since android came into play I could never really switch back. I couldn't even stick to iPhone for more than a month. I am very happy with galaxy nexus but it is great because of ice cream sandwich. The specs itself are nothing major than what already is out there. I have used galaxy note before and trading it for an iPhone was my worst decision ever. Now I really like the Android 4.0 and would only switch to the note when 4.0 gets on it. Till then I will be using my nexus.

SGS III should be released in April and the note2 in the Fall. I would get the Android. You will have more flexibility wiht the device if you like that sort of thing. You also have twice the RAM meaning more apps can run concurrently. The front camera is 2MP vs VGA. which is great for Skype. But the iPhone is just easy to use and everything is done for you. Apps are many and available in one place. But the 3.5" screen is ting when compared to most of the devices out there now. If bigger is better the Note is the way to go.

I am waiting to see what the SGS III brings before i pay the price for the International Note. I also want to see ATT's version as well.

I thought buying an iTouch 4 and a Captivate would fill the bill....however the iTouch has not been used since getting the SGS II The Note would eliminate any need for a tablet as well.
