Now if I could only get iPad support or an iPhone VOIP client that would work with RON. For US trips. I have unlimited US/Canada calling so I am not saving anything in Canada but to call from the US to Canada for free would be great. Guess I still need Skype.
Any Canadian LD that is done through the web client is free (for now). Did you make a hour's worth of LD from the web client?
That's the thing - I haven't made a single call using the web client. I can't guess what it is. The only part of RON that I've used is the simultaneous ring, and I've probably answered about 60 minutes worth of talking on the non-cell phone (i.e. my office desk phone).
Thats something that I've been trying to get an answer for. If I pick up on a different line when using ring all, is there a charge for forwarding. Are they giving that away for free?

Looks like that's the case. I wasn't charged for that time.

2.., I figure at worst., it just bills you just like it's happening on your cell.
If you have unlim incoming., you won't get charged for that.
If you have 2500 sent sms and unlim received, you won't get billed for that.
If you DO NOT have CF, and choose to CF to another number, then you get billed PPU.
Am I right?
3.What the heck does that mean??? 'borrow your sim'??

Your android phone is on another number I take it? IE, you initiated a video call thru web-portal, and video-called an android phone? Has anybody else done this with another Android?

What do you mean duplicate?
I am CC'd on the inbound SMS to both web & phone. Or do you mean you are actually getting DUPLICATE sms's on either/both devices?

I agree with your expectations of where it's headed (billing perpsective)., and it's only fair. They are out to MAKE money after all.
Have you confirmed that it will work overseas? This is very important to me at the present time .

pls elaborate.
So you made an outgoing call to a non-*included otherwise*-phone number, and it did NOT eat up your minute bucket?? Or received a call (and you have no incoming or r2r/unc) and it didn't use up otherwise chargeable airtime?

I would assume it would bill as per your CF feature on your plan.
If you have CF, then it would bill as 2500mins included (or whatever it is), and incur PPU thereafter. If you do NOT have CF on your line, it would bill PPU from the get go.
I would love to hear that it is entirely free, and NOT as I'm expecting...but for the time being, I'm looking forward to using it overseas (where we're headed shortly), and will use it assuming it will bill as I've assumed it would. Worst case, I operate within my budget, best case, I end up with a whole lot more minus at the end of the month .

OK,
I have not received any texts ever since i joined Rogers One Number.
They have have all been going to my computer.
Luckily I didn't miss much.
But is anyone else having the same issue? I am on a iPhone 4s.
I can see someone catching a cheating spouse after adding the spouses phone to RON and get a copy of their text. My friend found out about his Christmas present after setting up his wife's phone on her laptop and the text from her friend came in. Lol.
So if I understand properly now you can talk on your computer, or ring multiple devices when someone calls your cellphone? Really? Wow, I don't know why everybody is so excited. I had this scheme set up with VoIP.MS for years. And don't forget it's Robbers - they are just testing this now, later they will find a way to charge for it. Talkspot is a good example.
I am pretty damn sure that you need to have unlimited incoming to use this feature worry-free, otherwise you're going to be hit with overages like there's no tomorrow. Also, how many people do you think are going to be actually using it? Don't forget, here it's mostly phone geeks, regular people have hard time setting up voicemail on their phones.

Something like this is of little use to a lot of people on here who already have unlimited talk and text plans. I can use GV or Skype and tons of other apps to do the same thing. It will be helpful for people with small plans and looking for a VOIP solution. Now if I could use it on the iPhone or iPad like skype when trawling then I would be more interested.

Anything you do on the portal is free (calling or texting a Canadian number). So you can call or text any number in Canada for free, from anywhere in the world where you have an internet connection. And when you do, your actual cell number shows up. No weird third-party providers like VoIP.MS, who I'd argue most people have never heard of (I never have), no extra numbers to remember, no charges to worry about, etc.
But hey, it'll work great for some people, and other people won't like it. Don't try and make it seem like the service itself isn't cool though

Sounds like some of your blood sweat and tears went into bringing it to life? It is cool though, I like the idea of a single number to call all my lines, and to be able to transfer calls between them seamlessly. I am interested to know if Rogers Home Phone lines will be able to use this service soon too. Has anyone tried using an ATA to connect to the SIP server?
Some people argued that IMS would become irrelevant in an all IP world, but I disagree. Bundling of voice video and data services all tied together by IMS is going to be the next generation of telco triple-play infrastructure.
