I got in a Galaxy Nexus today.
When trying to charge it with my LG charger (that came with the LG Clout phone), it will not charge the Nexus.
The label on it says 5.1V 0.7A.

The Samsung charger that comes with the Nexus says 5.0V 1.0A.

I'm thinking that since the LG charger is only sending out 0.7 Amps, that it is not enough to charge the Samsung phones, and it needs the full 1.0 Amps.

    By the way...
    1) Is there any way to get rid of the Google Search bar on top of all the home screens? It doesn't look like it can be removed like a regular widget.
    2) Facebook contacts can't be imported into the phone's main contact list?

=> Read my reviews for the Samsung Droid Charge, HTC ThunderBolt, and Casio G'zOne Commando.

    => VX8000 at Disney World:Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.

    I don't think it's possible without rooting: http://www.androidauthority.com/how-...escreen-39217/

Anyone figure out how to maximize battery yet? I'm using juice defender, have most of my syncs off except for mail which is once an hour. Even if I switch to 3g only, I'm draining between 5 and 10% with no phone use at all.

I too would really like the docks to be available. I'm itching for the landscape desk dock and a car dock that doesn't suck. Might have to rely on ProClip for that one.

And FAUguy, I've used a .5 amp Moto charger on my Nexus and it's been working fine.

I got in a XYBOARD 10.1 tablet a few days ago, and the charger on it says 5.0A 1.6V.
I tried it with my LG Clout phone, and the phone shows a message "not a recommended charger".
But when I try the 1.6V charger with the Bionic and Galaxy Nexus, both can use it fine.
So I guess the 0.7V charger that comes with the LG Clout must have something about it that will work fine with the Bionic, but not the Galaxy Nexus.

On a side note, I was able to install Go Launcher EX on the Galaxy Nexus, which does eliminate the static Google search bar at the top. But in doing so, you loose the rest of the ICS visual experience, since Go Launcher has it's own desktop and app drawer. But I was surprised that the touch-buttons on the bottom still worked just fine.

As far as battery life goes.. tried no 4g today... got about 14 hours out of the battery opposed to the 8 I got yesterday.. also, the 14 was on the regular battery and the 8 was on the extended. I'm going to try the extended without 4g too. I'm also going to try the actual samsung charger and letting the battery go down to 0%.. While I want 4g, I'm only going to use it when downloading large files or watching videos.. unless of course an update comes out that fixes battery life with 4g.

After using it for a couple days, I agree with others that have said the 4G reception is very bad on it. Shows -110 dmb and changes to 3G. The Bionic and Razr also drop tge 4G, but not as much. I still say the Rezound was the best as it was always locked on 4G and didnt change over to 3G.

Does anyone know of a good app that will say the person's name with calls and texts..? I tried saymyname and who's calling, but they only work from time to time...

Also, I was able to get over 24 hours on the extended battery today. Most of the time I was on wi-fi, the rest 3g, with about 30 minutes streaming pandora on 4g while using bluetooth headphones, and 15 mins of calls..

This is worth mentioning. The whole article is worth reading due to the usual great detail Anandtech examines things, but the relevant paragraph is quoted below.

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/5254/i...e-signal-issue

The issue that most people talk about centers around signal strength, and this is where a few misconceptions kick in. I’ve gotten a few emails and tweets and read pages on forums where people are implicitly comparing CDMA2000 1x/EVDO field strength to LTE field strength. The issue here is that on basically all of the LTE/CDMA Verizon handsets, the field under “Signal Strength” in about refers to EVDO signal strength, and not LTE signal strength. The two aren’t comparable at all for a host of reasons - different spectrum (800 MHz and 1900 MHz for 1x/EVDO as opposed to 700 MHz for LTE), and different cells (there’s some correlation, but not every Verizon base station has LTE onboard). The end result is that if you’re comparing 1x/EVDO signal strength to LTE signal strength, you’re making an absolutely meaningless apples to oranges comparison.
In short, it is perfectly fair to claim as an anecdote that the Galaxy Nexus doesn't seem perform as well as other LTE handsets that have been used in the same situations. However, you cannot compare signal strengths in the menus because they are not comparing the same thing. Most of Verizon's LTE lineup doesn't expose the LTE signal strength to the user and instead only show CDMA/EVDO.

Personally, I haven't really found the Nexus to be any worse than my Razr (and certainly better than my Bionic, though I got rid of it before the update) for LTE in real world use. I do think the handoffs are a bit shakier than the Razr, but I've actually had better non-LTE performance in very hard signal areas. As far as speeds, here's the interesting thing.

My Bionic never got above 27Mbps at my house, but usually stayed in the mid to low 20s. My Razr only broke 20Mbps at my house a few times and seemed to stay around 8-14Mbps. My galaxy Nexus seems to be able to pull 36Mbps at my house all day long, every single time.

However, I will be first to admit that even THESE aren't apples to apples comparisons. Verizon's LTE network is so volatile at this point, I think the only valid comparisons are ones that are done side by side within minutes of each other. I could very well have owned my Razr during a tuning period of the network which resulted in reduced speeds and what I'm seeing on the Nexus is the result of that tuning.

As far as Wifi performance goes, there's no comparison. The Galaxy Nexus is so much better in this regard it's amazing. I tend to keep my phone on wifi at work to save battery, and my Razr couldn't hang on to the signal to save its life. Over half the time I would pick it up and wake it, I would see the wifi reconnecting (and yes, wifi sleep was turned off.) I could also be sitting there using it and all of the sudden I would see it drop from wifi and hop back on mobile network only to have it change its mind 2 seconds later. It gets frustrating when you are trying to do something on the phone and it keeps jumping between wifi and mobile due to the momentary loss of connectivity when they switch. My nexus holds wifi rock solid. I don't think I've had an instance yet of it dropping wifi at work either while using it or while sleeping.

On a negative though, I've found if I leave the phone on wifi and put it on to charge overnight, I will have lost all cell connectivity by the next morning. That includes voice. If I leave it off wifi at night, I haven't been able to reproduce it. It's also worth mentioning that I'm connected to bluetooth constantly at home too since I use a cell to cordless phone bridge in the house. So, that may be a factor. I'm hoping that goes away with the new baseband update whenever 4.0.3 finally rolls out.

When going into *#*#4636#*#* shows the Data Signal Strength on Android phones. I have the Galaxy Nexus here and is connected to LTE, it shows -116dBm, while the Bionic is -96dBm (the Razr was about the same). All three of those drop 4G pretty easily and change over to 3G. When that happens the EVDO signal shows under -90dBm.

But with the Rezound, the LTE signal is -87dBm and doesn't drop to EVDO while I'm in a 4G area.

I was told the reason for this is that the Rezound is using a higher mW antenna.

Again though, as per the article above, you aren't seeing the LTE Data Signal Strength on the Bionic and Razr with that menu. Even when you are connected to LTE, it's only giving you the 1x/EVDO signal strength. Gingerbread does not expose it in the OS anywhere in the UI. The only way to pull the LTE signal strength on the Bionic is through logcat.

Can someone comment on the included stereo headset? Are they in ears that block out noise?

IMO they're actually pretty acceptable, for free/included ear buds. They are in-ear earbuds that will block out some noise. I'm no audiophile, so I'm not going to compare against a several hundred dollar pair of Klipsch or Bose earbuds. Pretty nice throw-in by Samsung, I use mine alot.

For what it's worth, I used wired headphones while at the gym. Been looking for bluetooth headphones for a while and found these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16875984055 They work with phone calls too.. the headset vibrates when you get a call. Pretty good sound quality... block out noise.. I went back to wired headphones the other day.. what a huge difference. If you have the extra money, go for the LG ones. Newegg has them on sale from time to time for $40, but even at $50 these are well worth it.

Anyone having gps issues? Since the maps update, it can take up to like 15 minutes for it to find location.....I usually have the gps off if that matters, but when I first got the phone it found it within 10 seconds.

Another issue I'm having is on xp and windows 7, that when i plug it in to browse files, sometimes the folders don't show up...
