Nokia 8801/8800

Looking to buy one of these preferably the 8801 since I am in california with 850/1900. However I have a hard time finding a housing for it. I have read that the 8800 housing will not fit an 8801 because it is thinner, is this true? There are alot of 8800 for sale online; is having only the 1900 band that bad?

It depends on whether you're going to be using it with AT&T or T-Mobile. AT&T uses both 850 and 1900 in most areas but if they are one of the "cellular" 800 carriers the 1900 Mhz will be spotty. T-Mobile on the other hand is 1900 only but they do use 850 to roam in some places. So getting an 8801 would probably be better for you if you're intending to use it in North America.

I am on ATT but their 1900 doesn't really work inside my house great outdoors though. Do you know where I would be able to find an 8801? Their a bit harder to find than the 8800.

if they can't get it or don't have it, it doesn't exist any more...they will though...i used to have an 8800, fine piece of instrumentation, such a good build...
