Cannot register on network - 005SH

My 005SH finally arrived back after sending to Japan to update to Android 2.3.4. But I can't get it to work as a phone.

At first, it would connect to the network (setting to AUTO) and work on 3G with 3G data working just fine. After 3-5 minutes, it would disconnect and would not be able to register on the network until I performed CPR - on my 904SH where 3G works flawlessly.

But after 4-5 times of getting signal, then losing it, nothing seemed to make it restore signal. CPR on the 904SH, CPR on an old Samsung, trying the hypersim that my girlfriend's SH-01B uses... nothing.

The USIM is recognised and when I search for networks, my network comes up - when in AUTO, when in 3G only, or when in GSM only. But it won't register: "Unable to connect to this network at this time".

If I choose "Select automatically" the message "Registered on network" is shown just 4-5 second later, but there is no actual connection as the signal strenth bar remains greyed out with an X above it.

Do you think it is a hypersim issue - if yes, can you recommend another hypersim that is known to work with the 005SH / 003SH and I guess the 007SH?

Damn i hope the 2.34 update didnt introduce new sim-lock protection!

Which hypersim are you using again? I believe Mr SIM is supposed to be good, otherwise you might need to get one of the "Data enabled" sims that benny was selling on HWZ

It was a CPR issue... after 6-7 hours of trying I gave up last night and then, just before I went to bed, decided to try again - and it worked! And it hasn't lost signal since! And it automatically gets signal back if I go into USB file transfer mode.

Internet in GPRS seems pretty slow. I will do some more testing in 3G / AUTO later today, now that I know the I can actually get signal back.

Indeed, I was beginning to worry that this most recent firmware update of 28th November (which fixed network issues) was the cause for all my troubles...

    It was a CPR issue...

The key to "proper CPR" is to do ii in the desired network mode only, that it, if you want to connect to the 3G network, perform the CPR by inserting your SIM card (without hypersim) in a phone which is switched to 3G ONLY. And if you want to get GSM signal on the Sharp keitai, perform the procedure on a standard phone which has been switched to GSM ONLY. It is that simple
