    help with sh-01b

just purchased my first ketai sh-01b from a fellow member here and received it in the mail. It came with a i-smartphone hypersim, but I'm getting the "UIM not recognized error". I've followed the CPR steps on the sticky. Could it be that my t-mobile sim card is too new? or do I need another hypersim that works with t-mobile?

I'm also not getting any indication that the phone is charging, the adapter has a light and when i plug it in it turns on, but plugging it in doesn't show any sign of charging on the phones display. Do you need to get the sim working before you can charge the phone or something?

Charging does not depend on having a USIM or not. If your phone is charging, the corner LED indicator will light up in red and the battery icon on the display will flash until charged.

Do the CPR without the hypersim attached. When attaching the hypersim, make sure that you align the edges precisely (and stick with tape) and when inserting the SIM+hypersim, make sure they don't misalign.

"USIM not recognised" can either mean that you didn't align the two correctly or that the hypersim isn't working. If correctly aligned, and the hypersim is OK, the USIM will be recognised, i.e. it will ask you to input your PIN, but you won't get signal (you'll see a Japanese character where the signal bars should be).

Check out my post for the new hypersim I got that works perfectly with the SH-01B: http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...-on-the-SH-01B

Hm... you never know for sure with hypersims but most will work with every carrier. I recommend getting the one above simply because it's tested (and will probably work for you too), is ridiculously cheap and has free shipping, if you are willing to wait over a month.

I would say T-Mobile seems to be most flexible with accepting hypersims. I've even tried using some pretty strange looking no-name hypersim with my stuff and it seems to work.

The current test bed is the SH-07B

    It's all good (^_^)
