That would be cool! They are still GPRS and EDGE up here (and in most of NorCal), it'd be nice to finally have some 3G/4G from them, we have it from AT&T, Verizon and U.S. Cellular, and next year we'll have LTE from Verizon and U.S. Cellular. Metro PCS and T-Moblile remain the last 2G and 2.5G holdouts.

ilvla2 - keep the nonsense and self-centered garbage you spew out of any of my threads. I'm not going to read your post nor should anyone quote you so I do see it but I expect nothing less of you than to come in here with the same garbage you always talk about, this thread is not about you and it's not about northern California. thanks

Coverage will expand to 100 million LTE pops for the first half of 2013, with the second half of 2013 expanding to 200 million POPs covered. Release 10 LTE (2×10, 2×20) will be better performing than all other competitors.

I may borrow one of my friend's old iphone 3G-s to test for 1900mhz HSPA here in Southern California.

I would support a sticky to strictly confirm cities where PCS 3G is operating as well.

If you do, keep us posted Antenna! I could get something like that and check when I go down to Santa Rosa or over to Redding, Chico, Marysville or Yuba City, I keep checking for 3G up here though on my regular T-Mobile 3G phone, so far my number isn't coming up lol I would so love to dump AT&T and move those lines over to T-Mobile, but the lack of 3G thing, well, you know

Kies, are you now responding to posts you haven't even read because you have the person on ignore? You're using terms like "nonsense" and "garbage" to describe a post that you haven't even read.

As far as I understand it, as long as ilvla2 follows the rules of HoFo, then he has the right to post his comment in a thread that you have started. If you do not want his comments in regards to what you have posted then I would suggest the option that you have of not starting a thread to begin with.

I on the other hand, am interested to hear any results of tests that ilvla2 might conduct in his section of the country.

Reports of PCS 3G in Birmingham, AL too (10MHz of AWS, 40MHz of PCS)
PCS is working in Hoover, AL, and parts of Birmingham. It's spotty and not at all tower's, it seem's like its only active on the sites in area's where they were having performance issues before! Calls are not handing straight to EDGE!!!

I already put him on ignore, I got tired of his insults. He takes this mobile thing WAY to personally, as if T-Mobile is his sister and I have some how impuned her honor I mean, you (generally, not anyone in particular) can rant away on AT&T, Verizon, U.S. Cellular here, I don't care, and I certainly don't take it personally, kies needs to relax

I'm getting a 4S for Christmas, here in Chicago. If I get any kind of 3G coverage, I will post back and let everyone know.
    Kind Regards,

I'm in Chicago as well and tried to test it but everytime I enable 3G on my 3GS, I lose all my signal and get No Service. I'm still on iOS 4.0.1 btw.

    Chicago

I just tried it on a 3GS in chicago and I can confirm that its only edge here. There is no 3G band in the Field Test mode.
Hope they do something here. I would definitely go out and get an iPhone 4S on tmobile!

What would be logical for Tmobile strategically is to switch off 2G and use 1.9GHZ for the faux 4G (HSPA+), then convert their AWS to LTE.

They need to make a sacrifice somewhere and getting rid of 2G GSM is the way to go. Furthermore, they should look at a network sharing deal with Sprint. This would make them both a strong competitor to the other two, that are currently shave significantly deeper pockets and larger customer base. Ultimately cutting costs for both.

What fraction of T-Mo customers are using 2G-only phones? They would *all* have to be replaced with 3G phones to accomplish this. Moreover they'd have to be phones with both PCS and AWS 3G to make this transition happen. How about people who just want a little candybar or flip phone? AFAIK there is no such thing as a "simple dumbphone" out on the market with both 1700/1900 3G. So that adds a huge transition cost.

Actually the problem isn't what phones the customers have, it's how many customers with 3G phones fall back onto the 2G network because the 3G network isn't strong enough or it's still not even built in their area. Getting out cheap 3G phones to everyone is relatively easy. Having a 3G network that duplicates the 2G network's footprint is the hard part.
