Any news for Los Angeles roll out of 1900Mhz 3g? Also, I have a AT&T Samsung Focus on T-Mobile right now. Will I have to do any software hacks or setting updates to utilize the 3G?

Speed achieved using T-Mobile Samsung GS2
Any news for Los Angeles roll out of 1900Mhz 3g? Also, I have a AT&T Samsung Focus on T-Mobile right now. Will I have to do any software hacks or setting updates to utilize the 3G?
I was wondering something. I have an unlocked ATT htc inspire 4G. It says it uses GSM/GPRS/EDGE850/900/1800/1900 MHz and UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900 MHz. I live south of Kansas City, so does that mean I could be seeing 3G instead of the edge network? At home I am on the outside edge of t-mobile and it will switch to roaming sometimes also. I don't have the internet and use the wi-fi at home if I get on the internet, but it would be nice in the future to go to like walmarts family talk unlimited if it will be at a 3g speed instead of 2g. Yes I also know that it is slowed to 2g anyways after like 250mb on the walmart plan, but I don't usually get on the internet away from home.
The FTC approved the AWS spectrum transfer from AT&T to T-Mobile today. Technically it has no effect on the refarming but hopefully refarming comes soon![]()
Well when I was at home last night I actually looked at my phone and it had the E for edge that it hasnt had before. Also when it changed to "roaming" instead of tmobile it still had the e for edge. Did the *#*#4636#*#* and it said it was connected to edge.
Your area should be able to get PCS 3G so yes, you could see it. But being on the outskirts of the city, probably not initially where you live. Are you saying you're getting coverage at home when you were always roaming?
LTE has arrived. The third carrier in Las Vegas with 10x10 LTE coverage
Coverage will expand to 100 million LTE pops for the first half of 2013, with the second half of 2013 expanding to 200 million POPs covered. Release 10 LTE (2×10, 2×20) will be better performing than all other competitors.
T-Mobile USA. “This year, we’re stepping on the gas again. We are making continued coverage improvements and launching an advanced LTE network
No I always was on the line with tmobile and only get service if I was outside or in our living room. Same with my wifes blackberry 3g. I just noticed now though that it was on the edge the whole time no matter if it was on tmobile or roaming where I have never noticed it before. Of course I use wifi at home and dont have the internet so the only time I would really of noticed is when I would try and send MMS pictures as they wouldnt go though if it wasnt on tmobile
Mid-2013 is optimistic at best. I'm not holding my breath, at least for my neck of the woods. Here we are serviced primarily by a T-Mobile "Affiliate" (iwireless) who is even slower and more lethargic with network upgrades than T-Mobile itself. I'll put a few bucks on 2014...These guys only recently retired their last GPRS-only sites (that I'm aware of) in the past 6 months. Yes, they "upgraded" to EDGE. Kind of gives you an idea...
Speaking of Louisiana, supposedly, T-mo is already providing 1900mhz for data in New Orleans. At least this is what 3 separate agents told me (2 by chat, 1 over the phone). I still am not sure what to believe.
I have an Exhibit II 4g,but I want to move to a galaxy note (not the i717 from AT&T, but the GT-N7000 international). So long as i could get data, I'd be happy. I guess there's no way to truly know yet unless I bite the bullet and just get the n7000?
New Orleans has HSDPA+. Even where I am (a little further north), I've seen galaxy SIIs pull 22mbps from a tower. My lowly exhibit II 4g pulls 6mbps max in the same location.
T-mobile, to my knowledge, won't release a map (yet) for 1900mhz coverage. At least this is what I've run into while chatting w/ T-mo agents. Maybe once they have a lot more coverage. They made is very apparent that they specifically want to attract unlocked iPhone users.
I guess I'm stuck for a bit thinking about what to do.![]()
They don't even have a national map for HSPA+ in the first place. You have to zoom in to a few miles to get one on their website. AT&T and Verizon (EVDO) you can get at the national level.
They need to do both if they think they can attract customers away from AT&T. It's going to be tough with Straight Talk in the mix though, as ST has the $45 deal on AT&T's network. My guess is the heavier data users will be most attracted to T-Mobile, as well as droves of people in NYC and SF, if they deploy 1900 HSPA+ there.
If they are refarming for the sake of grabbing iPhone customers, that's a pretty strong indication that they aren't playing ball with Apple to get the iPhone for real come September when the next iPhone drops. That's not a technical issue, if T-Mobile made a deal, adding AWS support for HSPA+ would be trivial for Apple compared to the CDMA deal they did for the VeriPhone.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.
