That is usually accomplished by their VPN software routing all traffic instead of allowing your local gateway to handle it. Half an hour with google on using routing tables or just modifying VPN settings can often be enough to get around that. If they are really secure, then running their environment within a VM would also be a workaround, as only the VM would be secured to the Rogers network allowing the host machine to be accessed remotely easily, which in turn allows control of the VM.
Again, it isn't rocket science and doesn't require a 'super hacker'. Asking any 15 year old script kiddy would probably have it compromised in under an hour.
$2 unlimited airtime plans are plentiful if you did want to forward it to your cell with a US number. Or get a cheap roaming plan, like through Wind/Mobi if you prefer a Canadian number. Could probably even claim the expenses for work.
I am not saying it is dead easy nor worthwhile. I am saying that for anyone really determined and wanting to work from the beech in Miami, it wouldn't be insurmountable and not really all that hard.

Personaly...I'm very much against institutions like Temporary hiring agencies, credit collections and companies that use their services.
Its because of these companies that the standard of living in this country is so unaffordable for so many individuals. I know Rogers has a call centre in the US that they recently contracted to.
Because of these companies workers don't have benefits, good working environments, and good wages. Its very easy to be thankful that one has a job and supporting the family....but u need to realize that others are making money of ur hard working sweat.
I remember a few years ago, one of my friends was working for a sports company thru an agency and was getting paid $10/hr, but this company wud pay the agency $16.......I find it very hard to believe why the heck don't these same companies hire the individuals and pay them $14, and save $2.
In regards to Rogers, I can seem to understand why they can't do the same. It will certainly enhance the lives of many Canadians who work hard and can't even make it through the month comfortably.
Look at the Collection Agencies.........one of the most lucrative and insane business where they buy ur loans with mere pennies.............and try to haggle u with phone calls just so they can make money. Whats even dumber and ridiculous are the companies that sell these institutions ur loans for pennies while they screw ur credit for the rest of ur lives.
Look at our Immigration laws or the real estate market.
Where the hell are the lawmakers who run this country. WE Canadians have the least priviledges than what we are suppose to believe.
Heck we don't even have great labour laws that protect us as workers. Guess what, if u drove an hr to work, and the company sends u home within a couple of hrs, they are only liable to pay u 3hrs. is this really fair. The system is a joke.
Our immigration laws don't give a crap of how much taxes we have paid for the last upteen yrs when it comes to sponsoring ur loved ones...but new immigrants come here everyday and use our tax money to move forward but yet it is so hard to sponsor our own into this country. Heck the people who enter this country may even be in the middle of honor killings within the next few years. But for those who have lived here for many years and have paid taxes and contributed for the betterment of this country have the most difficult time to sponsor or bring in their loved one.
What the heck shud I say about our real estate, less and less Canadians are able to afford housing........because people come in here....pay millions for a $250,000 house, and then rent them out without even living or caring about this country. The mortgage companies are making billions of $$$$$$ just because these idiots come over here and are willing to pay lucrative amount for houses........
Our tax system is also flawed........do we even realize how much taxes we pay. When the hell is anyone ever going to be able to live well or even afford the finer things in life. We basically pay almost 2 days of our pay each 10 days that we work.............we basically pay interest to banks for borrowing money, fees....and so forth insurance if u decide to get one. How much is one even left with at the end of each month. Our minimum wage is at $10.75. Isn't this insane.
I know this may have nothing to do with wireless or phones, but it connects to this thread in many ways. Our laws need to change to have companies respect each individual that lives in this great country.
Canadians shud come first.......the laws have become to lenient for companies to do whatever they want.
Why can't a good profitable company pay an individual a good wage instead of hiring someone else and shortcut the individual who does the actual work.
This to me is unacceptable, whether it be Rogers, Bell or Telus.
I hope I haven't offended anyone, this is just my opinion.
I've had good customer service by phone *611 & in person at Roger outlets but will stick to the latter from now on. I find Rogers.com is generally poor.
