I live in the Tampa Bay, FL area and currently have a hybrid PRL. Have other people in the area had better coverage with the hybrid PRL or the standard PRL?
YOu many get better reception with the hybrid because Tampa Bay area is an X-Alltel area. Until Alltel is fully integrated into Verizon you may need the hybrid. I would have thought Alltel would be fully integrated by now though??
The US Department of Justice said today:
"AT&T could obtain substantially the same network enhancements that it claims will come from the transaction if it simply invested in its own network without eliminating a close competitor..."

I know this is an older thread, but where can i get the best PRL for use in Tampa Florida?
The PRL only determines what order the phone chooses SIDs (system IDs) from most to least preferred.
The difference was (for a Verizon user) the regular PRL preferred Verizon SIDs then Alltel SIDs, while the hybrid preferred Alltel over Verizon. For Alltel users it was the opposite -- normal PRLs preferring Alltel and hybrid preferring Verizon.
I think these networks have been fully integrated for quite a while so any of these PRLs will work the same in Tampa area.
