Actually you don't need a jailbreak, I have a video of me changing the APN on an iPhone 3GS. Do your research first.

Something about a different SIM to get the APN screen if I remember correctly.
I'm positive you need to modify settings for an Android.

It's great to have the discussion of the benefits of other carriers phones. It's part of the thread. The technical part we can keep for another thread.

I realize your becoming a Jolt dealer and I wish you luck with it.

Only here can people go off topic in an off topic thread. More bizarre fantasies about iPhones I see...this really is perturbing.

I agree with a bunch of you, VM really needs to up its game soon. I don't understand why VM doesn't just offer better phones and start throttling data (I guess you can't really throttle 700kbs too much lol) if they're really concerned about heavy users migrating.

The triumph is a decent phone for now, but the signal is not very good, gps sucks, camera is sub par. Overall the phone is smooth and most the features work great, but for 300$ it's really nothing special anymore.

I'm currently on the grandfathered 40$ plan, but if a better phone isn't introduced in the next couple months, I will probably be jumping ship to a BYOD AT&T prepaid.

btw, my Droid3 is on VZW prepaid for only $75/month contract-free and includes Unlimited 3G Data.
Definitely costs more than VM, but it is a premium smart-phone.

As is your delusional thinking that a prepaid customer will pay 650.00 for an iPhone. Or that one is coming to Virgin Mobile.

Great deal, only 75 a month because you didn't add text messages. You must be using an app to save the 20 bucks additional. 450 minutes, nights at 9pm. Awesome really if it works for you. Great device, good network. I bet it makes that Wildfire look pretty bad huh?

78 a month after taxes, Sprint postpaid, CONTRACT-FREE 450 land line minutes, nights at 7pm, unlimited any mobile calling, unlimited data, (even worthless 4G) unlimited messages, navigation, TV, blah, blah, blah. EVO 3D, Motorola Photon, iPhone, all premium smart phones.

Doesn't make your plan look too appealing really. Where I need it, Sprint is every bit as good as big red.

You seem to have left out some important information regarding the Droid 3's VZW prepaid service...
Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Calling with 80 million Verizon Wireless customers
Unlimited Night & UNLIMITED Weekend Minutes
And yes Google Voice works very well on the Droid 3 (no need for VZW messaging service option).

It most definitely does not make the Wildfire S look bad since the Droid 3 cost 3x as much and is a premium android device.

With Calling Mart I actually pay less than $70 for the VZW prepaid service with UNLIMITED 3G DATA.

Oh and thanks for the Jolt mobile info....
A contract-free PREPAID iPhone will soon be on that service.

I bet in the next 6 months some prepaid carrier will get an iphone 3gs for ~400. People are already paying 300ish for the top of the line, I could see them paying an extra 100 for an apple phone.

I'd really like to see windows phone get in on some prepaid action.

T-Mobile Windows product will be available in the next few months (including prepaid).

Hopefully Sprint/VM will jump on the windows OS products soon.

I would hope a 3GS is a lot less than 400. If AT&T can give it away for free how much do you think it cost?
Sadly, I found no information on a CDMA variant.

You could see a windows phone, you might even see a Blackberry if they can manage to stay in business.

Yes, I stated unlimited nights starting at 9pm
An 80 million customer M2M network is pretty impressive but not as good as any mobile carrier in the US.
Verizon is expensive and you'd be paying that amount on a Wildfire or Optimus if they had one. They are the one carrier that can still command a premium for their service for whatever reason.

I think post paid, CONTRACT-FREE on Sprint is a better deal (and it certainly gives you more) but its all what works for you. I'm actually surprised you didn't go that route since you've been a loyal VM user for so long Sprints service must be decent.

Seems like Verizon wants the upper tiered customers that will pay (even on prepaid) and reward them with better devices. Sprint somewhat bottom feeds with dirt cheap plans on VM and the shrinkage option on Boost unlimited. They must think those customers won't graduate (like you did) and be willing to pay more?

You are right about Sprint they do have the best network for the money. I, however, prefer the prepaid options on most carriers and mvno's, regardless of the assumed advantages that post-paid service options may provide. Post paid wireless service has a history of adding fees to most accounts, in addition to their out of control billing errors and numerous dubious service related actions. Perhaps you, as most post paid subscribers, enjoy overlooking and accepting their actions as part of the post paid subscriber experience. I prefer to control my own account, and knowing what I am paying for in advance with no unpleasant billing surprises.

For a few dollars more VZW Prepaid 3G Smartphone service options seem to be a great deal. Unless you rely on a phone subsidy to assist with a device purchase, postpaid "contract-free" is not as good a value as prepaid wireless service. VZW's Unlimited Week-Ends and Unlimited nights are very handy and Sprint/VM should look into adding those 2 features to their current $35/$45/$55 BT rate options. It would be a nice update/perk from Virgin Mobile for subscribers not grandfathered @ the old rates.

Hoping so too! The Lumia 700 for one has awesome battery life. I'd really like to see a $200-$250 prepaid WP7 smartphone!

I've managed to pull on by with a rooted Intercept, but I'd really like to see something much better. A phone with zero lag, an excellent GPS, good battery life, a pretty good display with good resolution (not necessarily Super AMOLED+-level), an okay camera, and good form factor.

Sorry VM, but the Optimus Slider and the Optimus V don't cut it. The Motorola Triumph is a nice try, but it has way too problems out of the box!
