    Just a few question!!

    Hi group!

Just need couple of info, i'm actually with Telus (Iphone 4) then I really often use the tethering with my laptop .... for sure, I got a good plan from Telus .... but my son and my wife are with PM ....

I see on the PM web page they are now offering unlimited 3G ... my question is really simple, if I buy a good phone from PM, don't know what I really need for this, but any way that I can tether the data like I do with my Iphone?!

Thanks all in advance, and sorry for my english!

to get the tether running, i recommend a program called pdanet. there's a free version which allows you to browse regular http sites, and https sites for 30 days. after the 30 days you'll need to buy the full version if you want to continue to be able to use the https protocol. the full version costs about $30, but it's worth it imo

i found that when i tried to tether initially, it wouldnt work due to getting a HTC -1 error in pdanet on my laptop, but if you hold the home button while powering on the max when it's connected via USB, it will install a new kind of driver for you, which seems to get around the problem. you'll need to reboot your computer if you switch out of debug mode or activate the usb storage on your phone though, or pdanet wont work

the CDMA evdo isnt that slow tbh. it's fairly solid at around 1.8mbps, so it'll be more than good enough for web browsing and basic media consumption

    Hi.

The thing is that tethering is NOT an official service offered by PM. It you look at their website, the explicitly say that you CANNOT: http://www.publicmobile.ca/pmconsume...pageURL=#qa3-1

Some have said that it "kinda" work when you use the Max phone connected to a laptop through USB and using an app (pdanet).

So, basically, you probably can get it to work, more or less reliably. It could work today and stop in a couple of weeks. It could work all the time and it would be an amazing deal for the price paid.

So until it is an official supported service offered by PM (if ever), it's a big YMMV.

    Hope this helps.

When you tether your phone it will become hot, so its best to clone the EVDO NAI/AN/UM and PW into a data card.

does anyone have any speedtest.net results?
25GB Cap? DIY Telnus prepaid/Koodo unlimited EVDO internet (for $10 per 2 months, to keep account "Active"), Max 3Mbps download speed, if you roam on Bell (free), then you get non-NATed IP

its just an error that pdanet throws out that makes very little sense, but stops you tethering

given the state that the firmware is in, i wouldnt imagine they'll get around to blocking the functionality any time soon to be perfectly honest

Cool ... gonna give a try for sure.... just for the price, that's so good .... all the good phone are on sale at 99$ .... so what I should use to give a try to this project, the ZTE N762 or the MAX? ... and also, the price are 35$ everything included for the 6 first montg, and also the first month free .... what a best deal...

I have no idea on how the android work, so anyone can tell me exactly how to do this?? with the usb or even wifi hotspot! thanks in advance all!!
