For anyone who has RW, I'm curious how the transition from wifi to cell and back to wifi works in real life. I've read that the RW user hears another callout being made as it transitions to cellular, so I assume there's some delay/lag in the system. What does the caller on the other end experience? Does it work the same way going from cellular back to wifi?

The amount of people in on the republic wireless beta is a lot less than you might think.
Evidently. And what few there are don't seem to frequent HF.
Look on their own forums. Those forums are a mess though.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.
On a quite serious note, if you'd like to test it, we can learn together.
we can make arrangements to initiate a call so you can see first hand, PM me if you really want/need to know.
I was one of the "lucky" ones (if you want to call accidentally getting 2 devices lucky) - i accidentally placed 2 orders during their order fiasco, so I have 2 lines of service with them :-)
the only problem I see with my personal experience is that my sprint coverage at home is less than satisfactory, that's one of the reasons i ETF'd my sprint contract, because i wasn't gonna pay for a home network device to use my broadband to improve my service.
Wifi to cell and cell to wifi handover is still in work according to them. For me, it doesn't really matter since don't drive around while talking over the phone anyway. One thing I really like about RW is that at home reception is just great! Doesn't matter which carrier, my at home reception has been horrible and had to go outside. But with RW, no more walking out of the house! One bad thing is that Sprint reception around my house sucks meaning I have to stay indoor to make/receive call in I want clear sound. The RW plan for my wife works out perfectly since she uses her phone mostly skype/cell at home and she is a binge user. Since RW averages your data usage, don't really have to worry about overage fee either. For me, RW plan would be a waste. I think I use less than 60min a month average. My PP still has $62 left after 7 month from purchasing $80 on it. I can't stand the slow internet. Call me old fashioned, I just work during the day and use the internet at home.![]()
