    DROID RAZR MAXX Pre-Release Thread

    I've been trying to find out more about this phone since I saw the article on Droid Life. How is no one talking about this phone?

    If it is similar to the Chinese variant Razr, it will have the same razr specs plus:

    * 4.5″ 720p LCD display (330ppi)
    * 13MP rear camera
    * Dolby Digital Plus integration??

    I would consider going with a 720p Super IPS Panel equipped RAZRMAXX. It's more likely to be called the Droid X3 by Verizon though.

    Fiber backhaul for Verizon in Southern Illinois in 2013 - about time.

    If its super thin, I can't imagine it not including the RAZR name.

    Any VZW guys know why in the screenshot on Droid Life, why the supposed MAXX has the same software/model number on the right hand side of the photo as the regular RAZR? Are we getting all excited over nothing?

    Any insight?

    Moto has a 1280x720 IPS, 13MP sensor version displayed on the Chinese portion of their website, selling on China Mobile. I'm guessing that this model has TD-SCDMA.

    Also, Verizon had a RAZR MAXX show up in their systems. That's where the speculation is coming from.

    Yeah. I know. Did you even read my post?

    The software version/model number on that screenshot from the Verizon system shows the same model number (XT912) and software version (6.11.744) as a regular Droid RAZR.

    If it was a completely different phone, it would have completely different software and a different model number. Or is it common to use another phones model number as a placeholder in the system until release? I don't work for VZW, so I don't know.

    Does anyone know why that is?

    Yes, Verizon will use existing model numbers as placeholders.

    Thing is about a month ago I saw a couple of articles about. Prominent in my mind was the longer battery life. I'd like to be able to go "off-charger" for a bit.

    My vz friend said it should be out by second quarter 2012. Maybe a little sooner but they are waiting to give the current raz time to sell. He actually got a chance to try one so it appears to be right around the corner.

    This is why I am jumping ship to iOS. So Motorola/Samsung/HTC/LG/Sony just shipped a phone with terrible battery life and other issues. Why fix it, just release a new phone! Problem solved.
    UGH!

    Your post is too funny. Accurate but sadly true. Seems that the manufacturers want consumers to keep buying newer devices instead of simply fixing the issue the first time. I think Microsoft has the same philosophy with Windows.
    If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

    Remember that the RAZR came out a little over 2 months after the Bionic so it's possible but probably unlikely mainly due to the fact that the Bionic was delayed so long and the release period between those 2 should have been closer to 6 months rather than 2 months.
