I was hoping for a 720P screen based on IPS LCD and no PenTile. Oh well.

Fiber backhaul for Verizon in Southern Illinois in 2013 - about time.

The Razr Maxx should have been a global phone!

If you are curious, even with heavy use you will have a very hard time draining this battery in a single day. Charging overnight should be all you ever have to do (and doesn't everyone charge their phones overnight now?). Seriously, I mean pretty heavy usage.

They should have skipped the botched X2 earlier in the year and released the Razr MAXX in December as the X2. They should have then held off on the Razr release until they could use a 720p screen.

Motorola just completely failed in their execution plan this year.

    What should have happened:

    No Tegra 2 X2.

Bionic (as we got it) and the D3 should have launched in late June early July at the same time. D3 should have been LTE and had 1gb of memory.

Razr MAXX Launches in late november, early december as X2.

Razr (with 720p and no front buttons) and D4 (also 720p screen) launch side by side in late Feb, early March.

I don't know, I think the Razr and Razr maxx should have come out at the same time. In fact, anytime they release a phone with a non-removable battery, I think there should be an extended version right alongside it. I would say razr maxx in late november at $300, razr at same time at $250.

Yeah, it seems to me that they purposely waited so enough time would pass that people couldn't return their Razr for the Razr Maxx. Now if you own a Razr from the launch date, you're well past the 14 day return window, and would have to pay full retail for the Maxx.

If it were me, both should have been released at the same time with the Maxx $50 more due to the larger battery.

So is this able to be installed on the regular RAZR by removing the back panel and replacing the internal battery? I wonder how much thicker it makes the Razr, compared to the Razr Maxx.

    UGH!
x2. And for me the extra width of the RAZR makes the thinness a moot point, the phone is just too damn wide. I would be very satisfied with a device that has a smooth interface that is not field tested by the end user. It's a shame, because I do like Motorola's for their performance as a phone (call quality, RF etc.)

I've been using the Galaxy Nexus the past few days, and even though it's not built at durable as the Razr, it feels more comfortable to hold since it's not at wide.

If the two phones really are the same except for the backplate (includes some of the sides) and battery, I can imagine it won't be long before one of these phone repair companies is offering up a Maxx conversion service. Can't be that hard judging from the ifixit teardown.

As opposed to the aftermarket option, you could literally just buy a maxx backplate and battery and slap it on. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if VZW offered this in house.

This was the clincher in me ignoring the RAZR and waiting for the Nexus. I went in to check it out and even though it was really thin, I knew it had a smaller screen, but it still seemed way too wide and uncomfortable for the screen size. If it was more near a 5" screen I could forgive it maybe.
