    Where to port cell numbers

My AT&T contract ends this month, and I had planned to port our cell numbers to GV and then forward them to prepaid phones (6 months per year on Telcel in Mexico, 6 months to a U.S. GSM MVNO). But it turns out our phone numbers are not eligible for porting to GV, so I'm looking for another alternative.

I could port both numbers to a U.S. prepaid service, and just forward them to the Telcel numbers when in Mexico. Or I could port them to a parking/forwarding service with cheap forwarding rates for both the U.S. and Mexico.

Any advice on which of these routes to take, or a better alternative I haven't thought of? Suggestions on best/cheapest services to use? We both use jailbroken/unlocked iPhones, which work fine with our Telcel SIMs in Mexico, and should work on H2O or StraightTalk or the like in the U.S.

Why isn't your number eligible to port to GV?

Here's what I was told when I tried to port my cell number:

Porting your mobile number to Google Voice is unavailable
Your mobile number can not be ported at this time.
    - This number appears to be from an area we don't currently support for porting.

It's in area code 479, in Northwest Arkansas.

Yesterday, when I cut-and-pasted the above response to your first question.
